We are very happy to present this very nicely restored 70 Chevelle SS 454. This is a factory LS5 but has had modifications to give it as much horsepower, if not more, than an LS6. We'll get into what those are  later in the ad.

FEATURES INCLUDE;

454 CI V-8  Code CRQ LS5 (with mods) has about 460hp
Turbo Hydra Matic Auto Transmission M40
Power Steering
Power Brakes- Discs Front Drums Rear
12 Bolt Positraction Rear 3.1 Ratio
Cowl Induction Hood  (working)
Steel Wheels

The interior looks great. The seats are original. The driver's seat did have new cushioning put in, but is the original upholstery. as are the passenger seat and rear. The headliner, package tray, door panels, and dash pad are new.

Step into 1970 and the feeling of being back there when the Chevelle SS 454 was burning up the streets.  Driving this car brings back a lot of great memories for those from it's generation.

The dash is also new but all of the gauges and bezels are original. The original 8 track was sent to AZ to be rebuilt.

The current owner knew the last owner who bought it from the original owner. So it is a 3 owner car and the mileage is believed to be actual.

The rebuilt 8 track works great and we'll even include some old 8 tracks.

There is the rear window defroster option which was rebuilt and does work.

There is a custom stereo system with Blue Tooth and the amp set up is in the trunk.

This is a Fisher Body car and was assembled in Kansas City.

There were only 4298 SS 454 LS5s produced in 1970.

The rear bumper SS insert is the original one from the factory.

The sheet metal is all original except for one front fender and the hood. One of the previous owners had cut a hole in the hood to install a high rise breather.  Don't ask!!!

The chrome has all been redone including headlight bezels.

The cowl induction works. You will see it in our video.

The cowl tag shows the original color Forest Green with Saddle interior.

The 454 LS5 had hydraulic lifters instead of solid lifters like the LS6s. Some guys prefer the hydraulic. However, to gain more horse power, the engine has been treated to upgrades to increase the horsepower to almost 460. The LS6 had only 360hp. The intake was replaced with an aluminum one and the carburetor was replaced by a Holley 750 CFM Carb. Also the original exhaust manifolds were replace with headers. I have not looked through all of the receipts, but we believe the cam was probably changed too.

If you have any questions about the engine, I can get with the owner. Unfortunately the mechanic who did all of the work on this engine has since passed away.

The first numbers end in CRQ. It's hard to see, but it is a Q and that makes this the 454 LS5. The second number on the block definitely shows the last six of the vin, 151605.

We do not have a build sheet for the Chevelle, but the numbers all appear to match and we are pretty confident that this car is the real thing, because each owner knew the previous owner personally.  We are fully aware of how many recreations exist out there, but the current owner is convinced this is the real thing.

The rear end is a 12 bolt posi with 3.31 gears.  The owner tells us that with the modifications to the engine, with a set of slicks the car pulls a 12.9 at the track. The LS6 is said to do a 13.1. You can't get much closer than that.

We show a picture of the frame before and after. You can see how solid it was before.

The owner has found his original photos of the restoration which he has downloaded to a flash drive for the buyer. Below is the VIN# on the transmission.

The transmission tag shows the correct numbers. 1970 built on the 300th day of the year and the CS on the bottom number is a 454 / 360 hp which is the LS5.

On the driver's side rocker, there is this small area of touched up paint below the door.

Also on the driver's side are these very thin cracks which our paint correction guy said are in the clear and can possibly be wet sanded out.

One of the flaws on the car is this scratch on the rear driver's side window.

The paint is very nice on the car, but there is this crack on the top over the rear window. It is a fine line, but runs about 7 inches. The owner sent the car to us, but did not see this crack. He lives quite far from our dealership and said if it proves to be a real problem in the sale, he would have it shipped home and have the shop that painted the car do the roof over again.

We do have all of the receipts for the restoration, which again date from 2014 to 2017 and a few from 2019.  We also have the book of codes, as well as literature and books for the stereo and the 8 Track player.

There are printed copies of photos taken before and during restoration.

The owner kept all of the original parts that were replaced. They will all come with the car.

This is your opportunity to own one of the most iconic classics out there.

Thank you for viewing our ad, and again please call Maris at 214-616-2317 or Dave at 214-213-7072. We can also assist with financing and shipping.
