The LTD nameplate was first introduced in 1965 as Ford sought to
expand upon their Galaxy 500 series. They were the highest trim
level for the full size Ford model range. They were geared towards
the luxury car market and offered features that had previously been
reserved for Lincoln and Mercury. With the arrival of the 2nd
generation in 1969 the LTD was given a major redesign. The look
entirely changed and although the chassis was mostly the same the
wheelbase for the full size Ford Sedans stretched to 121 inches.
This 1972 belongs to that 2nd generation and is a true survivor
car. It has 19,541 original miles which is pretty remarkable
considering it is a 50 year old car. Redesigns for this year
include a chrome bumper that stretch across the grill, a squared
off deck lid, and a very unique rear bumper that incorporates inset
brake lights and central 3rd brake light. All of the chrome and
stainless on the car is in excellent condition throughout. The body
is straight and painted in Yellow paired with a Black vinyl top. It
has had 1 repaint in its lifetime and it looks great. The vinyl top
is part of the original Brougham trim package which was special
ordered. The glass is all in good condition and has a slight tint.
All of the exterior lights are working properly with no issues. It
rolls around on a set of original wheels with original Ford
hubcaps.

The LTD era was the first time that Fords lineup was entirely
powered by V8 motors. The entry level was the 302 and topping the
list in 1972 was the powerful 429 V8. This car has its original 429
which has been well maintained and runs great. It looks all stock
under the hood with a majority of the components being paint either
Ford Blue or Black. The car was ordered with factory air
conditioning as well as factory power brakes which are working
properly. It has discs up front and drums in rear. The transmission
is a C6 Automatic which shifts smoothly. The undercarriage is
mostly painted Black and the floors are all solid and rust
free.
The interior of the car is all original with Brown upholstery. It
is really remarkable how nice and clean the interior is. It makes
it very obvious that this car was well cared for and rarely driven.
It has a front bench seat with folding armrest and a bench seat in
the rear. The carpet, seats, headliner, dash, and door panels all
look great. All of the faux wood trim and Brougham badging is in
place. The dash has the original layout with all of the original
knobs, switches, and gauges which are working correctly. The trunk
is nicely finished out in Black and offers plenty of storage and
houses the spare.
This nice LTD is an extremely well maintained survivor car and it
is in great condition. If you are a fan of these LTD's this is
definitely not one to pass up.
It could be yours for the very affordable $23,750.00!
