The Lotus Esprit became an instant star when James Bond and 'Q'
chose it for the 007 films "The Spy Who Loved Me" and "For Your
Eyes Only." A Turbo Esprit for Roger Moore as James Bond was used
in "For Your Eyes Only" with skis strapped to the back for a skiing
trip to Italy's posh Cortina ski resort. What more can be said,
awesome!
Tested in 1983 by Road & Track, the 205-hp Esprit beat a
contemporary Ferrari 308 Quattrovalvole to 60 mph by two-tenths of
a second and proved capable of achieving its claimed top speed of
148 mph. Power comes from a bulletproof 2.2 liter inline-four
turbocharged 210 Hp DOHC 4-valve aluminum mid-engine with Dellorto
side draft carburetors.
This Turbo Esprit has been owned by a client of Autosport Designs,
Inc. In 2014 and with approximately 500 miles less than it has
today, the following servicing was completed: Dellorto side draft
carburetors and distributor rebuilt by Lotus specialist Claudius,
Carbs balanced, New stainless steel braided line has replaced the
original red plastic hose, New clutch master cylinder, New
transaxle mounted slave cylinder, The front suspension had been
rebuilt with new bushings upper ball joints, Surface front rotors
and new brake pads, The air conditioning was serviced, The original
factory locations were used for the uprated stereo head unit and
speakers and lastly the gas struts for both the front and rear
trunks were replaced.
This Turbo Esprit is a well-maintained driver's car, it is
unmolested and has never been damaged in an accident damaged.
Mechanically the car is very good, but it has suffered from lack of
use in recent years. Currently, the Esprit is in our service
department being service where needed to bring to excellent,
well-serviced condition and thus, ready for its next new ownership
and home.
