West Coast Classics are proud to present an exceptional example of
this southern California 1989 Rolls Royce Silver Spur II LWB Sedan
with a very striking original color combination of 'Windsor Blue
Metallic' paint (Code 9510484) and 'Tan' Connolly leather hides
(Code A4178) and with only some 33K original miles! The car has
obviously always been well maintained and serviced and garaged
since new! Obviously always a non-smoking car since new, this
particular example has only 33K original miles and has obviously
been only rarely driven and always well cared for, the car shows
true pride of ownership. The beautiful 'Windsor Blue Metallic'
paint with a 'Tan' Everflex roof is very striking with matching
color combination Rolls Royce hubcaps and the car has a lovely
'Tan' 'Connolly' leather interior and matching carpets and trunk,
all of which is in virtually flawless condition throughout. The
paint and all the chrome work, including the front grille and
bumpers, is in outstanding condition. The original leather seats,
dashboard and headliner show no signs of any major wear whatsoever.
Obviously always garaged and owned by only obviously very careful
and meticulous owner/drivers since new - never ever abused!Recent
service history includes all new AC system with new compressor,
expansion valve amp; drier, hoses and clamps etc. The front and
rear brakes pads and front calipers have been replaced as has the
fuel pump and battery. The car drives exactly like a well
maintained and serviced Rolls Royce should and must be driven to be
fully appreciated and seen to be believed! The engine is extremely
strong, the transmission is very smooth with Rolls Royce's
legendary almost imperceptible shift and the engine temperature
always remains cool. All the options are working as they should
including the A/C. The car has a clean CARFAX report which can be
viewed both on our EBay listing and on our website. In mid 1987
Rolls Royce introduced the 20,000 series with a major redesign
update from the previous models. To distinguish these updated cars
and the serial number jumped from 15,000 to 20,000with this
particular example being number 25,206. These models are referred
to as the desirable 20,000 series as a result. In 1989 the Mark II
model was introduced to the 'Silver Spirit/Spur' line up - the
models remained named the Silver Spirit and Silver Spur but the
refinements and improvements included a redesign of dash with more
modern instruments which improved the interior look quite
considerably with the old rectangular trip computer box being
replaced with better looking round gauges. The cars had an improved
Bosch fuel injection system and a more robust cooling system and
there were a number of design improvements to the brake system
including ABS. The suspension was another innovation with the
'Automatic Ride Control' system adjusting the dampers in all four
wheels in real time. There was also a new Japanese air conditioning
system that replaced the old GM based system. Only 1,658 Silver
Spur II's were built over a five year period of 1989-93. 'Connolly
Leather' supplied the British car industry for over 125 years,
including such legendary marques as Rolls Royce, Bentley, Aston
Martin and Jaguar, supplying these manufacturer's highly finished
leather which came from unfenced cows which produced unblemished
hides and is a highly desirable original feature of any Rolls Royce
or Bentley amongst Rolls Royce enthusiasts. This leather was also
famously used for the seats of the 'Submarine Spitfire' in WWII,
the luxury 'Concorde' aircraft and the luxury liner, the Queen
Elizabeth II as well as all the benches in the British Houses of
Parliament together with many other parliaments around the world.
The business developed into a high profile company with clientele
including royalty, celebrities, socialites and industry leaders and
today Connolly accessory designs are top be found in many museums
around the world. 'Connolly Leather' has stopped production since
2002 and any stocks left of the leather they had produced has
already been depleted. Today, upholstery shops uses a 'Connolly'
substitute leather supplied by different European tannery's that
uses reportedly use the same Vaumol, Autolux and Laxan graining
processes that Connoly used and is about as close as you can get to
the original factory leather, but as any enthusiast will tell you,
there is no substitute for the smell and feel of the authentically
original 'Connolly' leather interior. This long wheel base Silver
Spur model is becoming increasingly hard to find in such fine
condition with only some 1,658 models built in total during it's
1989-93 production years, or approximately only 331 cars per
year! For those who are unfamiliar, Rolls Royce no longer exists as
it had for over one hundred years - this is one of the last in the
original line of cars built in the legendary Rolls Royce factory in
Crewe, England with a quality and craftsmanship that far surpasses
that of today's mass produced models with many BMW parts - this is
a rare opportunity to own a piece of automobile history, from a
time when Rolls Royce was truly building the world's finest motor
cars.
