the man, then the engine definitely makes the car. €" Car and
Driver, August 1999 This September, sports-car fans, the car of
your dreams will finally arrive. Honda's S2000 comes to market with
one goal: driving fun. It has the stuff sports-car fantasies are
made of: a front-engine, rear-drive layout; a six-speed,
close-ratio manual transmission; an unequal-length control-arm
suspension all around; disc brakes; and supportive, firm bucket
seats-in a package that weighs less than 2800 pounds. The S2000's
crown jewel, however, is a 2.0-liter naturally aspirated
four-cylinder engine pumping out an incredible 240 horsepower at
8300 rpm and revving to an 8900-rpm redline. Only four
volume-production roadsters on sale in the U.S. can top the
featherweight S2000's power-to-weight ratio: the Chevy Corvette,
the Dodge Viper RT/10, the Ferrari F355 spider, and the Plymouth
Prowler. Only one current naturally aspirated production engine
comes close to equaling the S2000's revability-the 3.6-liter,
8500-rpm-redlined V-8 from the $170,000 Ferrari 360 Modena. The

Offered here is a 2001 Honda S2000 in Grand Prix White (one of only
four colors offered) over black under a black fabric convertible
top. The current odometer reading is 47,926 miles, or fewer than
2,400 miles per-year on average since new. That low mileage and the
current excellent condition of the car speak to special owner pride
and care over the past 20 years. The only hiccup on its Carfax
report involved an occasion 9 years ago when the car hit a curb and
airbags deployed. All resulting repairs have been long since
completed with no sign of repair or damage remaining. The
non-metallic white exterior white paint shows excellent gloss, no
fading, and smooth overall surface. White was a perfect color
choice on the trim two-seater. No sheet-metal panels show any sign
of dings, dents, or other damage. (To best assess the quality of
the paint and trim finishes, please be sure to view the close-up
photographs of the car in the accompanying gallery.) The
black-fabric convertible top fits perfectly and exhibits no rips or
tears. Cabin glass is clear as are all lighting lenses. Factory
badging is limited to the Honda H emblem in front (the S2000 model
identification emblem is on the door sill). Factory 10-spoke,
17-inch alloy wheels free of damage (with H center caps) are
mounted with Nexen® N7000 215/45 Z-rated performance tires. The
open wheel style allows easy views of the disc-brake rotors and
calipers. Inside, the trim cockpit's color theme is black in
keeping with the soft-top color. Perforated black leather covers
the well-bolstered sport seats; the driver's seat cushion has some
seam separation, and the bolster shows wear. Twin black roll bars
are as-new. Black carpeting covers the cabin floors and is
protected with matching carpet mats. The leather-covered, 3-spoke
black steering wheel frames combination digital and analog gauges.
Particularly clever is the digital tachometer which arcs over the
analog speedometer such that both data sources can be read
simultaneously. All operating switchgear is clustered in front of
the driver. A JVC® audio head unit is located behind a soft-close
panel on the center stack forward of t
