Tightfisted. -Period Chevrolet truck magazine advertisement The
above-quoted magazine ad went onto trumpet the Chevy pickup's
computer-matched brakes (front disc brakes and finned-drum rear
brakes are automatically computer-matched to gross vehicle weight);
tough ladder-type frame (design allows low cab mounting, easy
entry); counter-angled rear shocks (to help reduce brake and power
hop); long vehicle life (95.7% of all Chevy trucks in the ten most
recent model years were still on the job.); and longer service
intervals (30,000 miles between spark plug changes, 7,500 miles
between oil changes and chassis lubrication, 30,000 miles between
air cleaner elements). The ad summed it all up with the Chevy truck
theme: Built to Stay Tough. The '86 short-bed Chevy K10 offered
here is compelling proof of truth in advertising: a lifted,
refreshed, substantially upgraded, 35 year-old classic Chevy pickup
that looks nowhere near its age. It didn't just stay tough, this
truck got a lot tougher! The beautiful Royal Blue paint on the
properly lifted body is a guaranteed eye-catcher. The current
odometer reading is 24,698 miles. Truly a stunning 4-wheeler, this
K 10 pickup is ready for show... or go. The truck's exterior has
benefitted from a recent professional respray in Royal Blue
metallic. All stock body panels display even gloss and an absence
of scratches, dings, or dents. Chrome bumpers front and rear are in
near-perfect condition; matching chrome wheel-arch trim adds flair.
The truck's stock front grille shows no damage or flaws, its
gold-bowtie emblem properly mounted. (To best assess the quality of
the paint and trim finishes, please be sure to view the close-up
photographs of the car in the accompanying gallery.) All other
factory chrome trim is in place and in excellent condition. All
other factory badges and emblems have been deleted; the tailgate
Chevrolet lettering in white remains. The short-bed cargo box has
been treated with a protective coating and shows the signs of
normal use and wear. Dish style, 8-hole aluminum wheels are mounted
with BFGoodrich® All-Terrain T/A 31/10.5 LT tires. Inside the cab,
the stock interior look has been maintained. Black door trim
includes roll-up window handles and stock trim. The Chevrolet
2-spoke steering wheel in black frames a soft-covered black dash
with stock analog gauges. Above, a pop-up sunroof has been added.
The bench seat has been reupholstered in factory-look, vertically
pleated black fabric in very good condition. Stock heating and
ventilation slide-lever controls and the original push-button
Delco® radio are in place. The shift lever for the 4-speed manual
transmission is floor-mounted alongside the transfer-case selector
lever. Cabin floors are covered in fresh black carpeting which is
free of excessive wear. The cab features a solid rear window.
(Please view the close-up photography in the gallery to assess the
excellent condition of the truck's interior surfaces.) Under the
hood is a 305-cubic-inch Chevrolet V8 with black valve covers,
black engine-block paint, and an open-sided chrome air cleaner
appears otherwise stock. The engine bay is clean and tidy;
components, wiring, and plumbing are all correct. Viewed from
below, the lifted suspension components including Rancho® shocks
steal the show. There is no evidence of suspension, chassis, or
component damage. Rust-inhibi
