thing is sure: the K5 Blazer deserves to be a much sought-after
classic. -Silordrome.com, November 2018 The Silodrome
automotive-culture website called it this way: The Chevrolet K5
Blazer did not attempt to clone the successful efforts of
International Harvester and Ford but instead used them as a base
guideline to create something that was literally 'bigger and
better,' at least in the minds of those who bought them rather than
a Scout or a Bronco. That Chevrolet had pulled the perfect rabbit
out of the hat was evident in the sales figures. The word-of- mouth
reputation of the K5 Blazer was in all likelihood one of the
principal things that had people opening their wallets for one: not
only did Chevrolet have the right concept and design, but they had
built it to deliver reliably what customers were looking for.
Offered here is a California-owned 1980 Chevy Blazer K5 in metallic
bronze-and-white over tan. Refreshed, respectfully upgraded, and
lifted, the Blazer's current odometer reading is 36,921 miles. The
Blazer's refreshed exterior paint exhibits very good gloss and a
smooth finish with only light patina in spots, notably on the hood.
The white-painted fiberglass roof is in excellent condition. (To
best assess the quality of the paint and chrome finish, be sure to
view the close-up photographs of the car in the accompanying
gallery.) The shiny finish on the front grille and chrome finish on
the front and rear bumpers is in excellent shape. The gold-bowtie
emblem has been removed from the front grille; other factory
badging including the K5 Blazer front-fender emblem, rear-fender
Silverado emblem, and tailgate Chevrolet emblem on brushed-metal
panel remains in place. Mirrors, door handles, body-side trim, and
tailgate brushed-metal trim is all in undamaged condition. Lighting
lenses and cabin glass (including on the sliding rear-side windows)
are clear. Polished-alloy, dish-style, 8-hole wheels are mounted
with newer BFGoodrich® All-Terrain T/A raised-white-letter 33x12 LT
tires. A lift kit is installed. The interior two-tone tan vinyl
seating surfaces are in well-maintained condition; the matching
two-tone dash is free of cracks or damage. Darker tan carpeting
throughout is clean and undamaged. The factory 2-spoke steering
wheel frames the black-backed, driver-focused instrument cluster
including period-mandated 85-mph speedometer. The shift lever for
the automatic transmission is mounted on the steering column while
the 4-wheel-drive transfer-case selector lever is floor-mounted.
Slide-lever controls for the VintageAir® system replace the factory
HVAC. A Bluetooth®-capable JVC® audio head unit has replaced the
factory radio. Cargo-area walls, door trim, console storage box,
and dash surfaces all show well-maintained surfaces. (Please view
the close-up photography in the gallery to assess the specific
condition of the Blazer's various interior surfaces.) Under the
hood, the engine bay is clean but not detailed. Surfaces are
largely original. The 350-cubic-inch V8 appears unmodified. There
is no sign of damage here. Viewed from below, the chassis is clean
and straight, also with no obvious damage. A newer exhaust system
is installed, as well as the lift kit mentioned earlier. Surface
rust is present on untreated metal. While the more than 145
high-definition photographs and the short walk-around-and-startup
video available on the GarageKeptMotors website showcase this '80
