For Sale: 1969 Chevrolet Camaro in Charlotte, North Carolina

Vehicle Description

Don Yenko's story is the stuff of legend, and prices on authentic Yenko Chevrolets bear out his amazing legacy of high performance, factory-built horsepower. Of his creations, the Yenko Camaro is perhaps the most famous, setting the stage for the mighty COPO 427 and establishing the first-generation F-body as one of the most vicious street-going pony cars ever created. But, in a market where investment grade metal and hobby cars are becoming increasingly polar, most enthusiasts don't care to drop mortgage-level money on something that's fit for red ropes and a climate controlled museum. Instead, the smart hobbyist, who likes to actually drive and enjoy his classic, buys some well-done muscle like this exceptional Daytona Yellow tribute. Backing a correct 427 with traditional aesthetics and restoration that exhibits excellent attention to detail, this Chevy is the ultimate combination of heritage and fun. Are you one of the growing number of enthusiasts who wants to actually enjoy the performance, look, and value of the storied Yenko name? Your Super Car awaits!

YENKO GLOW

One can't help but smile when they look at a Camaro this cool. Assembled in Norwood, Ohio, it's everything car guys dream of from the first time they say "muscle car" to the day they trade their high octane V8 for an electric rascal motor. Decked in vivid Daytona Yellow two-stage and displaying a traditional array of Yenko Super Car stripes, this Chevy is the product of a detailed, ground-up restoration that was completed to very high standards. Its profile is a carefully orchestrated combination of excellent panel gaps, smooth pivot points and glossy pigment that stretches from tip to tail. And presently, the car rolls as one high quality head turner that sets the standard for any pony car that dare show its face at the same cruise night!

The overall look of this F1 is beyond factory fresh. And thanks to an astute attention to detail, the car has the kind of killer eyeball appeal that makes casual by-standers stop and take notice. At the front of its body, a monochromatic grille hangs traditional halogen headlights above a restoration-fresh bumper, clear parking lamps and a reinforced D80 chin spoiler. Above that grille, a familiar Camaro header leads a familiar Cowl Induction Hood that's finished with bright "427" emblems. Behind those emblems, like-new glass is cleared by satin wipers, topped with fresh drip rails and trimmed in polished frames. A sculpted profile floats standard rocker trim beneath factory mirrors, factory door handles, factory "Camaro" scripts and colorful "Yenko" badging that perfectly complements optional quarter louvers. And at the back of the car, a Camaro-branded decklid hangs a second D80 spoiler over segmented taillights, a second restoration-fresh bumper, and artful "Yenko" and "427" badges.

YENKO GO

While the exterior of the famed Yenko Camaros is a story all its own, what really made these cars special is what lived between their fenders. Lift this Chevy's functional Cowl Induction Hood and you'll find 427 cubic inches of date-correct big block that's been restored to a highly detailed, show worthy appearance. At the top of that hot mill, a painted and decaled air cleaner drops breeze through a correct LIST 4346 Holley, which feeds a date-correct Winters intake. At the sides of that intake, mirrored valve covers tilt handsome, multi-color Yenko decals over iron Chevrolet heads. At the back of those covers, a rebuilt points distributor sends fire through familiar Packard TV R Suppression cables, which snake around coated Hooker Competition headers. Traditional V-belts spin a modern alternator beside factory-style power steering. Cooling comes courtesy of a heavy duty radiator, which funnels water through reproduction GM hoses and fresh tower clamps. Aesthetically, the Satin Black engine compartment is impressively clean and, for the most part, looks straight out of Don Yenko's Pennsylvania showroom. Bright Chevy Orange block skin is just the finishing touch to make you want to pop the lid as soon as you park the car. And since this Camaro has been restored with GM's optional JL8 4-wheel power disc brakes, an appropriate booster is present and accounted for.

PURE MUSCLE

Unlike some builders, Yenko welcomed both manual and automatic cars into his vast empire of tuner treasures. And this particular tribute utilizes a tough Turbo-Hydramatic 400 3-speed to effortlessly apply power to a requisite 12-bolt axle. That drivetrain rides a restored factory suspension, which features factory power steering and the aforementioned optional power disc brakes. A thrill-inducing soundtrack fills big pipes, an H-shaped crossover and throaty Flowmaster mufflers. At the corners, American Racing Torq Thrust Ds spin 215/65R15 Goodyear Eagle GTIIs. And overall, this Chevy's fully restored chassis is completely sorted and ready to hit the road!

RETRO FLAIR

Between the doors, this pristine tribute is 100% Camaro, and that's always a great thing! Correct Black Standard upholstery creates a retro ambiance that simply can't be matched by the leather-clad cockpits of modern cars. Naturally, factory seats feature bold "YSC" headrests. In front of those thrones, a wood-look dash hangs beautifully restored telemetry above a correct AM radio and crisp Auto Gage accessory gauges. At the center of the floor, a wood-look console traces a traditional Horseshoe Shifter. Pick-free side panels cage fade-free carpet. A tight headliner frames old school shoulder belts. And the driver carves curves through a traditional, wood-look steering wheel that laps a traditional, tilting column.

If a Super Sport is just too ordinary, and you really dig the magical appeal of that storied 4, 2, and 7 number combination, this high quality Yenko is just what you need! Restoring a Camaro to the show worthy level of this classic involves years of challenge and cost. And even if you started today, it would be a long time before your project began to resemble anything close to a finished car. So, what are you waiting for? Call, click or visit http://www.RKMotors.com and let this awesome Super Car show you exactly what instant gratification is all about!
