1974
1974 was the final year of the BMW 3.0CS for North American
production. This is a California blue plate car and is finished in
its original color combination of Polaris Silver Metallic over a
Navy Blue leather upholstery. Optional equipment listed on the

delivered at Allison Bavarian Motors in Sunnyvale, California for a
total price (after dealer installed options) of $16,337.50. The
vehicle remained in California where it was driven and maintained
by the original owner until 2019. In 2019 it was briefly owned by a
broker in San Diego (The Motorcar Company) who was believed to have
bought the BMW from the original owner's estate. The current owner
purchased the BMW from the broker in January of 2020 as the second
owner with 59,103 original miles. Most recently, the current owner
commissioned Reitmeir's Werkstatt Inc. in Los Altos, California to
perform the following: complete underbody steam clean, replace tie
rod assembly, install center link and cotter pin (OEM parts), front
shock replacement with Bilstein's, adjust electric window switches,
upgrade all brake hoses to stainless steel braided, flush brake
fluid, installed four Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+ tires and
alignment, installed new headlight bulbs, replace cylinder head
gasket, install new valve cover gasket, install new intake, install
new exhaust manifold gaskets, replace engine oil and filter,
replace spark plugs, replace spark plug wires, adjust timing, and
adjust carburetors. A total of $10,100 was spent.
The silver metallic paintwork contrasts beautifully against
polished aluminum trim, and the brightwork is in pristine condition
with fresh rubber. The Navy-Blue upholstery is in original
condition including the seats, door panels, carpets, dashboard, and
wood trim. Equipped with a Nardi wooden steering wheel, power
windows, factory air conditioning, and a Becker Blue Dot AM/FM
radio. 17" Light Alloy BBS wheels are fitted to Michelin Pilot
Sport tires. The 3.0-liter inline-six cylinder (type M30) has
recently been serviced and runs phenomenally, paired with a 3-speed
automatic transmission and a four-wheel disc brake system. Complete
with tool kit, jack, spare tire, original window sticker, and
service records. An excellent opportunity to acquire a truly
original survivor that is being offered with recent service and
excellent documentation.

History
The E9 is seen as "the coupe" and the breakthrough of BMW post-war
into the European Touring Car Championship winning the championship
every year from 1975 to 1979. The lead designer was Hofmeister from
the now-famous "Hofmeister kink", still on every BMW and the
Bodywork was done by Karmann. This is one of the larger engine (Big
Six M30) motors produced after 1971 with a 2,986 cc displacement, a
9.0:1 compression, and the dual carb set up producing 180bhp at
6,000 rpm. One of the last 438 Automatics produced and imported to
the USA in 1974 (Total import volume was 813 for 1974).
