Vehicle Description
This is a rare opportunity to own a cool off-roader that never was
offered to the USA. This 1995 Mitsubishi Pajero 2800 was never sold
at your local dealer. Instead, you get a diesel-powered
right-hand-drive loaded SUV that's both a capable off-roader and
one of the most unique machines in any crowd.
The Pajero name is one of the most celebrated internationally for
being a true 4x4 with four decades of history. We did receive a
version we called the Montero, but a true Pajero has an amped-up
machismo. It's done in true off-road spec with the bright brush
guard up front, Hella amber fog light, steel running boards, a
trailer hitch, and deep treads on the off-road tires - including
the full-size spare on the rear mount. More than just rugged, this
one has a nice sense of style. The Sudan Beige Metallic and
Alamoana Green Pearl are quite tasteful, especially with the golden
pinstripe providing the upper border. This is the factory-correct
style, and it even shows all the right signs of being the original
application. The whole vehicle has the look of a well-respected
machine with good lines, nice sheet metal, and even the integrated
fender flares looking smooth. And just in case people didn't see
the Pajero name or see you driving from the "other" side, this one
also has plenty of hints at being something special. The
fender-mounted side mirror, large side rain guards, and offset hood
scoop make the exterior quite distinct.
The interior continues the theme of unique and premium. First of
all, this is a right-hand-drive vehicle that was built for the
Korean market, and most Asian-market cars love added gadgetry. So
there are plenty of SUVs with a standard speedo and tach, but when
was the last time you saw a factory-installed altimeter, compass,
and approach/departure angle clinometer? And because this is
imported, the speedometer is in kilometers. There are even great
anytime features such as power windows, power locks, power mirrors,
a tilt steering column, cruise control, and cold-blowing air
conditioning to keep you comfortable even in the great outdoors.
The radio has even been upgraded to an AM/FM/CD touchscreen unit
with Bluetooth. This is a premium SUV, and so there are nice
details for the rear seat, like the panromantic sunroof and full
zone climate controls. And speaking of the rear seats, the third
row folds against the sides like a Land Cruiser does to give you a
flat cargo floor. There are even useful details, like the
WeatherTech mats and a comprehensive tool kit. So this unique
import also remains quite a useful SUV.
Another great reason to get a unique import is the 2.8-liter
turbodiesel motor. It's the perfect mix of all-out ruggedness and
stump-pulling torque. And while this Pajero was not offered in the
USA, you can really understand the durability of the motor because
it's related to all those Mitsubishi commercial box trucks you see
pulling daily duty. And while this is a terrific 4x4, you'll also
find it easy to live with daily. The four-speed automatic
transmission, power steering, and four-wheel power disc brakes make
this unique machine just as comfortable as a crossover you see on
the morning school run.
Complete with owner's manual (in Korean), this is a terrific way to
stand out and be on top of the crowds. So if you're looking for a
modern classic that knows how to be capable and useful, call
