This 2004 Ford F-150 Lightning we have here at Adventure Classics
represents low-mileage, and exceptionally preserved example of the
supercharged Lightning that became an iconic performance Ford
truck.
2004 was the final year for these supercharged Lightnings. They are
believed to have the lowest production number of the series and
have a timeless style with the single cab and step-side bed that
makes it sports car of the truck world.
Mechanical
Under the hood is the fuel-injected 5.4-liter V8 with the Eaton
supercharger on top that made these Lightnings so quick. This
engine package put out 380 horsepower and 450 ft-lb of torque.
It is supported with features like a heavy duty four-speed
automatic transmission w/overdrive, an aluminum driveshaft,
limited-slip rear end with 3.73 gears, the suspension was lowered,
Bilstein shocks were added, and it has four-wheel disc brakes
w/ABS.
Interior
It has a two-tone grey/dark grey upgraded interior over the
standard F-150 with the special individual bucket-style with cool
black leather inserts and SVT logos embossed in the back.
It is power adjustable and the center armrest folds up for the
handy jump seat. It is loaded with all the best features, like air
conditioning, power windows, power locks, cruise control, tilt
steering column, dual airbags, and the desirable sliding rear
window, AM/FM stereo, and white-faced SVT gauge package with the
speedometer that reads to 140 mph.
Exterior
To give the truck true custom appeal, Ford applied a unique
wet-on-wet looking super-slick red finish on ours.
The Lightning even comes with exclusive cool features like
color-matched sport bumpers, a special body kit, integrated fog
lights, blackout grille, a lowered stance, side exhaust, special
18-inch SVT alloys and black side-wall tires, and the bed is fully
protected with a liner and tonneau cover.
