Vehicle Description
HIGHLIGHTS: Final run 1980 MG MGB Limited Edition! Driver-quality
car ready to hit the streets!
BODY OVERVIEW: The body is remarkably straight for a British auto
of this vintage that has not seen a restoration. Imperfections are
present, as shown in the photos, but this MG would be a great
little driver and an even better start to a high quality
restoration.
PAINT CONDITION OVERVIEW: The Limited Edition MGBs of 1979 and 1980
were kind of the 'last hurrah' for the MGB, and as such were all
finished in the same distinctive color combo of black paint with
silver decals. This MG is wearing what appears to be both its
original black paint and silver decals. The big plastic bumpers are
a polarizing attribute among enthusiasts, but they sure do look
nice against the black paint! All of that being said, it is worth
bearing in mind that the paint and bumpers on this car are now 42
years old, and have the flaws that one would expect to come with
age. While this MGB photographs great, when you get up close
defects such as fading and cracking are visible in both the paint
and on the bumpers.
INTERIOR CONDITION OVERVIEW: The interior in this MG also appears
to be all original, and is aged in the same manner as the exterior.
Considering that this is an unrestored car, the interior is in good
original condition. The original Limited Edition plaque can be seen
installed on the dash. Aside from normal wear and age, notable
interior attributes include an older aftermarket stereo and
aftermarket speakers installed in the doors. Note that one speaker
is missing.
MECHANICAL OVERVIEW: Don't let the aged exterior appearance fool
you-this MG runs like a champ! With the classic 1.8l 4-cylinder
under the hood (the same engine found in MGBs for almost 20
years!), this MG is the buzzy little sports car it has always been
intended to be. The engine runs great, the 4-speed transmission
shifts as it should, and this thing fires right up every time! Just
like the rest of the car, the engine bay is clean and intact but
showing some age.
WHAT YOU'LL LOVE ABOUT THIS CAR: The unrestored condition, and how
delightfully well it runs.
WHAT YOU MIGHT HATE ABOUT THIS CAR: These final year MGBs aren't
for everyone.
DOES IT NEED ANYTHING? That depends entirely on what you want to do
with it! As it sits, this car is ready to hit the road. The horn,
radio, reverse lights and turn signals are not currently
operational.
WHAT BUYER IS LOOKING FOR THIS CAR? Anyone looking for an
affordable, comfortable, cool-looking cruiser should take this
little MG into consideration. Whether you're looking for an
affordable driver, or something to take to the next level, this MG
could be a good choice!
