For Sale: 1966 Ford Mustang in Charlotte, North Carolina

Vehicle Description

It's a great time to be a Mustang fan at RK Motors Charlotte! Over the past few months, we've watched a roster of thoroughbred ponies trot through our doors. And, increasingly, that stock is transitioning from historic, numbers-matching showpieces to slick, fully-sorted resto-mods like this brilliant convertible. Professionally detailed and ready to rumble, this awesome drop-top is the beneficiary of a clean, ground-up restoration that transformed a stylish weekend warrior into a first class bruiser. And, thanks to a fuel injected stroker motor, a thoroughly tweaked suspension and a stylish leather interior, it'll keep you smiling all day long. Looking for a highly desirable muscle car that can provide years of open road fun? Time to celebrate the unrelenting swagger of old school Motor City muscle!

More timeless and striking than ever, this glowing Mustang resto-mod is the beneficiary of a detailed, ground-up restoration that likely took years to complete. That meticulous reboot reflects beauty in the form of epic House Of Kolor Tangelo Pearl two-stage. And that two-stage looks especially fetching under a roster of tailored details and pearl Shelby top stripes. At the front of the car, a traditional chrome bumper guards traditional headlights, clean parking lamps and an ornate GT grille. Behind that bumper, a smooth profile is shaved of everything but polished factory door handles. A Shelby-style hood floats bold "FORD" lettering opposite stainless-trimmed glass, polished wipers and tight black vinyl. And at the back of the car, seamless quarters lead a second chrome bumper that guards factory-style taillights, a GT fuel filler and a seamless roll pan.

Angle the hood and you'll find 408 cubic inches of rowdy Ford stroker motor that's been hardwired with Holley Sniper fuel injection. A satin air cleaner drops wind through a muted Weiand Stealth intake. That intake feeds hot Air Flow Research heads, which wrap lightweight aluminum castings around 2.20 intake valves and 1.60 exhaust valves. Those heads float fabricated and polished valve covers between a stainless breather and a COMP hydraulic cam. Stout 9 to 1 compression gets sparked by MSD 6 AL-2 ignition, which shoots shock between an MSD Blaster coil, an MSD Pro-Billet distributor and loomed MSD Super Conductor plug wires. Billet brackets join billet pulleys to spin an Edelbrock water pump next to a polished alternator. That pump fills an aluminum AFCO radiator that's outfitted with a polished expansion tank and a big SPAL puller fan. Spent gases are jettisoned through custom shorty headers. And overall, the car's sedate, Satin Black engine compartment is very well done, featuring top notch ancillaries like an enlarged oil pan and a quality Wilwood master cylinder.

The bottom of this awesome Mustang is just as impressive as its slick exterior and tidy engine bay. Behind the mean motor, a tough C4 automatic transmission makes excellent use of a mild street converter. A 9-inch Ford axle spins power through a Traction-Lok differential, 3.55 gears and 31-spline shafts. That proven drivetrain pushes a custom Torque Arm rear-clip that's garnished with a sturdy Panhard Bar and QA-1 coil-over-shocks. Opposite that clip, a Heidts Mustang II front-half cages two more QA-1 coil-overs in tubular control arms. Naturally, that kit is led by rack-and-pinion steering. At the corners, polished Wilwood calipers squeeze drilled and slotted rotors. Exhaust is handled by custom, 2.5-inch stainless pipes that snake through an H-shaped crossover and great sounding MagnaFlow mufflers. Power rolls through American Racing Shelby Cobras, which spin 225/50ZR17 BF Goodrich g-Force Sports in front of 275/40ZR18 BF Goodrich g-Force Sports. And every one of this Ford's details, from its armored transmission pan to its 15-gallon fuel tank, has been carefully planned and professionally executed.

Pop the doors and you'll find a lovingly customized interior that's both attractive and well-rounded. Reimagined buckets join a factory bench under pony-branded vinyl that's equal part black and equal part cream. A custom, body-matched dash hangs a full suite of Auto Meter Phantom II telemetry around a modern Alpine head unit and Street Rod heat. A custom console floats a serious B&M Pro Ratchet shifter next to convenient cupholders. Handsome side panels frame crisp Kenwood kick speakers at the sides of premium carpet. The driver spins a polished and half-wrapped steering wheel. And out back, a clean trunk hides a big fuel cell between a Kicker sub and a relocated Optima battery.

There's only one problem with this awesome Mustang: if you want it, everyone else will too. Well-done resto-mods have become some of our fastest sellers as more and more enthusiasts discover the thrill of taking their dream cars to the street. With its classic good looks, tastefully updated interior and thoroughly modern mechanicals, this Ford's appeal is universally strong. Call, click or visit and hit the road in style!
