rack Despite Chevrolet?s new Corvette in 1963, the market was still
there in the U.S. for traditional two-seat roadsters like the Big
Healeys of the late 50s and early 60s. This example was beautifully
restored in 1999 and it still shows very well with its paint,
chrome, stainless, interior and black soft-top. The 1963 model year
was the first year for curved windshields and roll-up side glass on
all Healeys. This is one of 6,113 BJ7 2+2s made in 1963. Dressed in
Signal Red, the car?s paint and trim are all in overall excellent
condition. The body is straight, the engine bay is extremely tidy
and the cargo area is in very good order and include a spare tire
and extra wire wheel. The chrome, wraparound bumpers look great and
fit tightly to the body. The car has a new battery and was recently
serviced. There?s a rear-mounted luggage rack for extra storage on
those three-day weekend getaways or day trips. This roadster rolls
on Nexen radials, size 165/80R15 at every corner and every tire is
mounted to a 60-spoke wire wheel. The wheels are in excellent order
while the tires are in very good condition. Under the hood is a
2.9L OHV six-cylinder engine with twin SU HS6 carburetors. The
motor is linked to a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive
for third and fourth gears and 3.91:1 rear end. There?s also an
aluminum radiator to keep it running cool and stainless-steel
exhausts for great sound and durability. The car has a newer
battery and underwent a recent service. Inside, there are black
leather seats with red piping that are in great shape. The
complementing black carpet is in similar shape. A three-spoke
steering wheel faces the driver while the inner door panels and
instrument panel are in very good order. The floor-mounted shift
lever has an oaken shift knob and completes the interior. The 3000
sports convertible Mark II was launched at the end of August 1962.
It was a true convertible with almost saloon car comfort, a new
wrap-around windscreen, wind-up side windows, swiveling quarter
lights and a quick-action folding roof. Ninety-one-point five
percent of all 1963 Austin Healey 3000 cars were exported mostly to
North America. If you?re a classic convertible collector, this
Austin-Healey may just fit the bill. Stop by MotoeXotica Classic
Cars today to check it out for yourself. Competition to this
Austin-Healey in 1963 included Alfa Romeo?s 2600 Spider,
Mercedes-Benz?s 220 SE Cabriolet and Porsche?s 356 B/2000 GS
Carrera 2 Cabriolet. VIN: HBJ7L22498 This car is currently located
