The 1990 Chevrolet C1500 454 SS was about delivering the muscle
truck for a more modern era. This example has some custom fun with
that feeling by keeping the loaded features, but now has the
classic muscle to go with the extra dark style.
The Onyx Black paint was given a proper respray to make sure it
remains glossy and intimidating. So this factory blackout style is
as aggressive as any Chevelle Super Sport ever was. In fact, this
will remind you of those legendary coupes with the added cowl hood.
There's also an aerodynamic bed cover, black bed liner paint, and
tinted windows to really upgrade the dark style. And we especially
love the black 20-inch Ridler wheels. Not only do they go with the
color theme, but they also join the lowered suspension and
low-profile tires for an upgraded sporty stance.
It remains quite stock and well-preserved inside. That's a good
thing because Chevy specially crafted the Garnet Red interior for
both premium and performance. It starts with a set of high-back
bucket seats and a center console in-between. You have power
windows, power locks, a tilt steering column, cup holders, and
cold-blowing air conditioning are all part of the factory package.
Plus, you'll even spot a few key upgrades like an AM/FM/CD stereo
with aux input and an auxiliary gauge trio under the dash.
Under the hood is a very cool upgrade for those who like old-school
muscle. This is a 396/402 cubic-inch big block V8. It has the
classic Chevy style with polished valve covers, but it also keeps
the right modern upgrades with a serpentine belt. Plus, you have a
Holley four-barrel carburetor, an aluminum intake, and long tube
headers feeding the Flowmaster muffler exhaust. So it's proper
vintage power and charm. Other areas of the Silverado SS that
remain include the stout four-speed automatic transmission that
makes for an ideal balance of strength for performance driving and
easy overdrive cruising. And this feeds the desirable 14-bolt
Positraction rear end. There is also power steering, power brakes
with discs up front, and the grip of modern sport tires.
