The Pulse was designed by aircraft designer Jim Bede and was built by the Owosso Motor Car Company. It was preceded by the Scranton, Iowa-produced Litestar, and according to the Litestar and Pulse registry, approximately 36 Litestar and 329 Pulse vehicles were built between 1985 and 1990. The Owosso-built fiberglass body of this example is fitted over a steel tube frame and is finished in silver with red, black, and orange graphics and pinstriping. The cockpit is enclosed by a sliding canopy, and additional exterior details include a retractable halogen headlight.
The front primary wheel measures 13″ and is mounted with a Hankook tire, while a Dunlop tire is mounted on the 15″ rear primary wheel. Fiberglass-skirted outriggers are equipped with 8″ trailer wheels. Braking is handled by hydraulic discs at both ends, and adjustable shock absorbers were added by the owner.
The cockpit features include a heater, and an AM/FM/CB radio.
The two-spoke steering wheel fronts a VDO gauge cluster including a 10k-rpm tachometer, a 120-mph speedometer, and auxiliary gauges. The odometer shows 11k miles.
The 1,182cc liquid-cooled flat-four was sourced from a Honda GL1200 Gold Wing, and power is sent to the rear wheel through a five-speed manual gearbox and a shaft drive.
The autocycle is equipped with an electric reverse gear, was fitted with an upgraded clutch slave cylinder, and an oil change was performed in anticipation of the sale.
A custom-built trailer, that has never been used, is included in the sale and is also shown in the pictures.
This Pulse is one of the last built- number 327.
