Vehicle Description
1986 Toyota 4x4 Xtracab Deluxe describes it as a "nut-and-bolt
restoration," bringing this pickup back to what it may have looked
like circa Back to the Future. The truck was finished in its
original color and features a new stripe kit and some period
exterior modifications,
Like all Toyota pickups of the era, this one is powered by the
legendary 22RE 2.4-liter OHC inline four-cylinder. The engine was
rebuilt and has just a few hours under its belt. The engine bay
appears to be nicely detailed, with rich black surfaces and no
corrosion on the inner fenders, firewall, or any other painted
surfaces visible in the provided photos. The only obvious nonstock
item is the Super Start battery. The truck is four-wheel drive
featuring "quiet run" gears and 27-spline output. The automatic
transmission and transfer case were both rebuilt during the
restoration, and both shift with no issues.
Paintwork is "absolutely stunning," with no orange peel and no
blemishes. The Creme paint mirrors the paint available in the 1986
Toyota brochure, with a new set of tan-to-brown vinyl graphics
complementing the paintwork. The chrome details - bumpers, mirrors,
plastic grille, and headlamp surrounds - all are in excellent
condition, with no peeling or pitting. This is an Xtracab, so the
cab is extended slightly, with fixed, tinted windows behind the
doors. The interior of the bed has spray-in black bedliner applied,
along with an exterior carpet in the bed floor. Period
modifications include a chrome step-and-tow bumper, a chrome tube
light bar, and dual chrome KC Hilites with yellow plastic
covers.
Interior is excellent with upgraded tan tweed cloth seating
surfaces, and brown vinyl around the sides and on the fold-down
center armrest. The carpet has been replaced and has a rich brown
color, along with the matching floormats. The door panels are
two-tone brown and tan and show no evidence of damage. The dash is
excellent with no cracks or damage, and the correct transfer case
operation decal next to the glovebox. The gauges are all
functional. The truck has air conditioning, and are fully
functional. The only nonstock item in the interior is a late-model
JVC head unit with a CD player.
The undercarriage is gorgeous, showing a remarkably clean chassis,
crossmembers, suspension components, and driveline. There is no
apparent surface rust underneath, with the exception of a tiny spot
of surface corrosion on the exhaust. Bolt heads, nuts, and
emergency brake hardware are in excellent condition. Optioned with
power steering that operates well with no leaks. The suspension was
updated with all new components during the restoration. The
power-assisted front disc/rear drum brakes are "like new,". The
truck rides on polished eight-hole Cragar wheels with matching
center caps, with newer BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A tires.
This Gorgeous Truck Is Located And Titled In Southern
California.
