1986 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe

Chevrolet has been pumping out Corvettes for 68 years, building about 1.5 million of them since 1953. That makes the 'Vette one of the most popular sports cars of all time. First and second-generation Corvettes were one of the first true collectible cars of the modern era, and collecting Corvettes remains a global phenomenon. More than just another two-seat sports car, the Vette is an American icon. There's a good reason it's often referred to as America's sports car.

For consignment we offer the 1986 version of America's sports car. A powerful 350ci L98 V8 engine, and mostly original car for the taking. A targa roof optioned car all wrapped in Gold Metallic and low (74,014) original miles.

Exterior
All clean Gold Metallic fiberglass is in good condition. Some slight differences in the paint between the melamine front bumper and body are noted. Dual electric controlled sport mirrors, and a fiberglass body colored targa lift off roof panel is seen. Black trimmings help breakup the gold on this hidden headlight car. On the back the large greenhouse glass cargo area emits from the rear roll bar/B pillar. The flat back with dual round taillights has a nice black wrap around body molding just below. 16-inch aluminum wheels and radials are bolted on all 4 corners.

Interior
Tan checkered cloth high back buckets are in the clean tan carpeted passenger compartment. These seats show little to no wear and almost no soiling. They have a centrally located power-controlled toggle for infinite adjustment of the seats. A digital driver information system is seen on the curvaceous dash, as well as the automatic transmission shifter that offers overdrive. Power windows, and power steering as well as an electric release will get you into the rear storage area that has enough room to house the removable top. All is clean for the digital dash and surfaces inside the cockpit. We note the add on of blonde maple wood inlays on dash as well as the console and door panels giving the sporty interior a luxurious look and feel.

Drivetrain
An original 350ci L98 V8 can be viewed within a clean engine bay with the flip of the hood. It has a tuned port EFI on top, and a 700R4 4-speed automatic on back. Way in the back is a 2.73 geared rear axle. Slight corrosion is seen on a few surfaces but overall looking good.

Undercarriage
Very clean and rust free with only road dirt and patina from age. A C4 suspension is seen in fiberglass mono leaf spring suspension on the front and rear. Power disc brakes for all 4 corners and power steering is seen. Dual exhaust is on with stock style mufflers and is solid with some surface rust on the piping.

Drive-Ability
Runs great, handled the test track with ease, and all functions were in working order with the exception of the dash cluster going dim intermittently during my drive.

Overall, a clean Corvette that the consignor has gotten good use of and is now ready to pass on to the next Corvette aficionado. A quick starter, smooth shifter, and plenty of power keep true to the 'Vette legacy of America's Sports Car. Bathed in Gold Metallic, and a truly mid 80's interior with the checkered tan cloth seats and added wood accenting.
