Vehicle Description
This 1965 Ford Mustang Prostreet mixes a seriously desirable
history with some serious street-eating power. It's an early 1964.5
model that has been upgraded with a fuel-injected 5.0 motor, full
race cage, four-wheel discs, a race-ready suspension, and an
awesome stance from a wicked set of rear tires.
The early Mustangs hold a special place in our hearts. This one
respects that history by keeping the right look of a nice
affordable coupe for the youth market. Good lines, chrome bumpers,
and a bright metallic silver finish make this fundamentally
attractive. There are no hood scoops or flames painted down the
sides. Sure you can add plenty of custom flair if you wanted, but
we think the presentation here is perfect for the prostreet
segment. It still looks like a street-worthy version of the classic
car you love, but with an overall finish that you can tell it has
taken down some big machines in the quarter-mile. After all, they
can expertly tub the rear end all they want, but there's no way to
fully disguise just how wide and aggressive the back tires are.
The interior continues the true prostreet attitude. That means your
interior leaves you more creature comforts than a pure racer. You
have a classic setup with the low-back bucket seats, proper door
panels, full carpeting, a nice headliner, and even the courtesy
lights are working. The floor shifter also tells you this has been
upgraded to a four-speed automatic transmission. And while the
motor gives you a terrific tune, there's also a retro-style
AM/FM/cassette stereo with upgraded speakers. We really like the
look of this bold and clean red interior against the silver
exterior, and it has a quality look, right down to the nice
headliner and smooth dash pad. So it's also nice that they
installed the race-ready components with care. You have a full
custom race cage, including door bars that come with the sale. It's
painted red to match the interior. Even the Grant GT sports
steering wheel has been wrapped in red.
Under the hood is a clean and mean presentation. This was upgraded
to Ford's 5.0-liter V8, and the label on top tells us that this has
the powerful Cobra upper intake for the fuel injection system. It
exhales with added power and authority as headers feed the dual
exhaust. This is also supported by the right pieces like an
aluminum radiator, serpentine belt system, and the fuel cell and
Optima battery are in the trunk for better weight distribution. Not
only does the full race cage add strength to the car, but also so
does the Monte Carlo bar across the engine bay and the added frame
bracing underneath. And when you think about strong, that Fab9 rear
end is a beefy welded piece that can get serious power to those
wide Mickey Thompson tires. In fact, you have a terrific rear
suspension setup with reinforced ladder bars and adjustable
coilovers. You even have four wheel disc brakes to scrub away the
speed.
This is the desirable first-run Mustang with a terrific
street-eating attitude. It makes for a distinctive way to represent
both performance and history. Call today!!!
