SERVICED, DETAILED, READY TO ENJOY! Following the launch of the
stunning new Corvette Sting Ray for 1963, the relentless
development work by Zora Arkus-Duntov and his engineering team
quickly unleashed a virtually endless series of high-performance
updates and options that kept the Corvette ahead of the pack on the
street and track alike. Introduced independent rear suspension from
debut and equipped with 4-wheel disc brakes by 1965, the Sting Ray
was one of the worlds finest sports cars available anywhere. Chevys
new Mark IV 396 cubic-inch big-block engine debuted for 65, rooted
in the Z-11 Mystery Motor 427 that took NASCAR by storm before it
was outlawed in 1963. Enlarged to 427 cubes for 1966 with 425
factory-rated horsepower on tap, it provided the firepower and
scope for future development to challenge Shelbys Cobra at home and
soon, take on Europes best in FIA-sanctioned endurance racing. While
the 427-powered Corvette Sting Ray is certainly formidable, some
owners demand more of a good thing and this 1966 Corvette Sting Ray
Coupe is a great example of that ethos. Delivered new by Courtesy
Chevrolet, with the NCRS document included, this original 427 CI,
4-speed Corvette continues to benefit handsomely from a frame-off
restoration and select upgrades. According to known history, it has
won a NCRS top flight award. The engine was totally rebuilt and
balanced under a prior owner in 1991, including installation of a
high-lift roller camshaft, over-bored cylinders and larger pistons,
a high-performance ignition system. Later, the 4-speed transmission
was swapped out in favor of a Kessler custom 5-speed manual
transmission plus a new balanced driveshaft. Receipts for the
5-Speed are included with the sale. Additional and desirable
features and options include an AM/FM radio and a Positraction
limit-slip differential. The current owner acquired the Corvette in
2017 and had the cars mechanicals extensively restored. Sporting
outstanding Silver paint over black upholstery, the Corvette
clearly benefits from meticulous care and features include a
spotless engine bay and undercarriage, plus true factory knock-off
alloy wheels. A recent service and detailing ensures it runs,
drives, and looks great. In addition to an owners manual, this
show-quality 1966 Corvette 427 Coupe is accompanied by tools and a
full-size spare wheel/tire combination. Contact us and see it for
