Vehicle Description
Plenty of custom attitude on the outside, a loaded A/C interior,
and a cool V8 upgrade under the hood all come together on this 1954
Mercury Monterey. So look over the details of a bold custom that
loves to cruise.
The copper paint has plenty of metallic to really make sure this
custom radiates in the sunshine, and the white gives you the right
dignified classic look you want in a Mercury coupe. The overall
impression is a car that's easy to drive and also loves to look
like a full custom from every angle. The color-matched bumper,
frenched headlights, and deleted badges give this a sleeker more
modern face. It looks more aggressive with no trim blocking the
hood scoop. Much of the superfluous trim was eliminated - even the
door handles. So you can now really appreciate the artful line that
Mercury gave to the side trim. You also now take more note of the
brightwork showing off the hardtop profile. And the rear looks
terrific where eliminating the trim and painting the bumper gives
you a smoother style. And it lets you appreciate details like the
way the taillights let the sheet metal's accent lines wrap around
the rear. Clear headlights, large dual exhaust tips, and distinctly
dark American Racing Torq Thrust wheels finish off an impressive
total package.
The color theme flips for the interior where white dominates, and
copper is used for distinctive touches on the armrests and
headliner. Tuck and roll style seating, matching door panels, a
smooth dash, and nice carpeting have a nice quality impression.
Even the trunk was done to match. There are well-integrated
upgrades like cold-blowing air conditioning, seat belts, and an
AM/FM/CD stereo. And power windows mean you can show off the full
pillarless hardtop profile without ever leaving the driver's seat.
And just to remind you this is built to be a driver, you get a
large speedo, tach, and full Stewart Warner auxiliary readouts.
The engine bay is quite interesting. Smooth black inner walls and
copper-colored brake booster give it a custom feel. The motor has
some polish but looks a bit more honest than the rest of the
package. That may be done purposely so that you can talk about
classic hot rod V8s. This is a Cadillac OHV upgrade, and that's
exactly what you wanted back in the day. In fact, they used the
large 472 cubic-inch unit with an Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor
on top. It's a healthy power upgrade that has a subtly sweet
exhaust note. Plus, the three-speed automatic transmission power
brakes, front discs, and rack & pinion power steering deliver on
the cruiser-ready style.
This is a custom Mercury that's built to be a cool and comfortable
driver. So if you love enjoying your classic out on the road, you
need to be there with this coupe. Call today!!!
