2012 Mercedes Benz C63 AMG Black Series Like all Black Series cars,
the C63 Black is effectively a standard Mercedes that has been
hot-rodded by the brilliant engineers at AMG to become a track day
weapon. As with the CLK 63 AMG Black Series before it, the C 63 AMG
Black Series was designed to be the most radical, road-going
iteration of the C-Class coupe that the engineers at AMG could
create. The customers had quickly fallen for the lightened,
widened, and lowered CLK 63 AMG Black Series, and it was clear that
it would require a successor once production came to an end. The C
63 Black Series stepped up the intensity in all regards and proved
not only to be competent on the road, but also an outright blast on
the track. In normal Black Series fashion, Mercedes-Benz and AMG
produced 800 examples worldwide with only approximately 100
allocated for North America. Looking at the technical
specifications of the C 63 AMG Black Series, it is easy to see why
they're so sought after. Like the ordinary C63, the Black Series
uses a version of AMG's mad M156 V-8, the same naturally aspirated,
6.2-liter piece that powers the SLS. It's even closer to the SLS
engine here than in its other applications, borrowing-as does the
standard C63 with its optional Development package-the gullwing's
lighter crankshaft and forged pistons and connecting rods. With a
new engine-control unit, it produces 510 hp at 6800 rpm, 59 more
than the standard C63 and 29 more than Development pack cars. The
engine now redlines at 7200 rpm, a 400-rpm jump from that of the
regular C63! The base C63 coupe body and suspension have been
extensively modified for more track-oriented equipment. Forged
19-inch, nine-inch-wide alloys sit inside fattened front fenders;
the rear rollers live beneath gargantuan flares and are another
half-inch wider. Front track is 1.6 inches greater than on a
standard C63, and rear track blossoms by 3.1 inches. Stiffened
springs, fatter anti-roll bars, and adjustable spring perches are
mated to two-way adjustable dampers. This example offered here for
sale is finished in Iridium Silver Metallic with a black leather
and alcantara interior. With only two owners from new and 2,970
miles on the odometer, it has remained in practically showroom new
condition. Accompanied with the sale are two keys, owner's manual,
