Honda introduced the Beat in 1991 for the Japanese market, in the
kei-car segment and it help re-invent the class.
While most kei-cars were boring econoboxes with the Honda Beat
being a completely different vehicle. It was designed to have fun
while driving to your next destination. Honda made it for the
customers who didn't want to drive boring cars. It is a mid-engined
roadster that could fit in the kei-car regulations and started a
culture.
The 1991 Honda Beat is a 2 door convertible/cabriolet-bodied car
with a mid mounted engine powering the rear wheels. Its 0.7 litre
engine is a naturally aspirated, single overhead camshaft, 3
cylinder unit that develops 63 bhp (64 PS/47 kW) of power at 8100
rpm, and maximum torque of 60 N�m (44 lb�ft/6.1 kgm) at 7000 rpm.
The engine transfers its power through to the rear wheels via a 5
speed manual transmission. The Honda Beat weighs a claimed 1676 lbs
and able to attain a top speed of 83 mph making it cute and
nimble.
This Honda Beat is not just about fuel economy but also has all the
comfort features you would expect in a car from today. First lets
start with the manual convertible top put it down and you have
endless nights of fun adventures. It has AC that needs a recharge
R12, power windows, 4 wheel disc brakes, power steering, AM/FM/CD
player, intermittent wipers, detachable steering wheel for added
security, and allow wheels.
