With known ownership since new, 04570 was factory finished in Blu
Dino Metallizzato paint, however Jack Brace had the 246 changed to
his preference of Black, with the addition of headlight covers,
shortly after taking delivery. Just a few years later in 1977, the
Ferrari was acquired by heart surgeon and respected collector
Hector Escamilla of San Antonio, TX from its first owner Jack Brace
in 1977. Mr. Escamilla would cherish the Dino for the proceeding 34
years in San Antonio, Texas - nestled amongst a most spectacular
collection of important sporting automobiles.
Driven on occasion and thoughtfully preserved, 04570 would remain
in exceptionally original condition with only 30,000 recorded miles
when DriverSource Fine Motorcars acquired this impressive 246 GT in
Summer 2011 from Escamilla. The Ferrari was soon purchased by Mr.
Ing of Vancouver, Canada, who would entrust Bob Smith Coachworks,
(considered among the world's foremost Ferrari restorers) to
perform a curated restoration of 04570 - with consideration to
preserving and restoring the multitude of factory original parts
remaining on the vehicle. The restoration efforts would span from
Fall 2011-Spring 2014 - all meticulously documented across hundreds
of photos and numerous detailed invoices. Nearly $274,000 was
invested in the restoration. A dossier of records and USB of photos
accompanies the vehicle.
Today, 04570 presents nearly as new, while retaining much of its
refinished original equipment and wearing its lifelong appropriate
black over tan livery. Body, trim, fittings, all glass, 1626 Body
Number stamped hinges and radiator tab, 1972 Klippan seat belts,
1972 (x4) and 1973 (x1) date codes wheels, and much more remain
fitted in stunning condition. A very rare and Dino correct Voxson
8-Track Stereo radio is also equipped. This 246 GT is further
supported by an original Operating, Maintenance and Service
Handbook, U.S. Handbook Supplement, Spare Parts Catalog, and
Consumer Information pamphlet in original leather folio. As well as
a tool kit, original jack and tire iron in case, wheel chock, spare
tire, car cover and supplemental matching floor mats.
