This 1986 Ford F-150 XL gets us excited because it is truly vintage
and it's truly premium. It has proper V8 power, an A/C interior,
and the genuine utility of a long bed truck. But the most
distinctive part of all might just be the one-owner history!
We love the way this one-owner F-150 has been cared for over the
years. The straightness of the body panels tells you this was
lightly used, and the level of shine and detail that tells you it
was one cherished pickup. The factory-correct Shadow Blue and Light
Charcoal two-tone is an attractive style, especially with the way
the metallic from the blue radiates in the sunlight. It looks like
there was a respray later in life, it retains the details style
with the full-length trim blue pinstripe providing clear dividing
lines for the two colors. There's the right amount of brightwork
with the grille, front bumper, and styled wheels. Plus, there's
extra function within some of the polished pieces like the towing
mirrors and bed rails. These join the versatile long bed, thick
rubber be mat, rear step bumper, and proper trailer hitch to give
you real pickup utility. But while this one was optioned to be a
handy work tool, it all just shows a carefully respected life thus
far. The odometer is even believed to reflect the full mileage, and
that means averaging only a little over 2k miles annually.
The two-tone blue and gray continue on the inside. And since this
factory-correct color combo has a time capsule-like quality, it
just enhances the feeling of care for the F-150. But there's a
premium side, too. You see it in the wood paneling on the dash as
well as the factory steering wheel. The only upgrades you're likely
to notice are a well-integrated Blaupunkt AM/FM/cassette stereo and
the factory air conditioning upgraded to modern R134a refrigerant.
We also like the XL because you get a durable vinyl floor cover and
roll-up windows, which gives this a real classic truck feel and
means easy maintenance on essentials in the years ahead. Plus, it's
easy to get comfortable with features like the cloth bench seat and
a full gauge package with handy tach.
A proper pickup needs the real power, and this has the correct 302
cubic-inch V8. It looks quite authentic in the engine bay, and this
is from the years when these had electronic fuel injection right
from the factory. It gives you good power and consistency, and the
four-speed manual transmission gives you full control over it all.
Power steering, power brakes, and front discs are nice for everyday
easy driving. And options like cruise control and dual fuel tanks
make this classic long-haul comfortable, too.
Because this is a one-owner pickup it also comes with great
paperwork like the original bill of sale, warranty card, and
owner's manual. A great classic with a stellar history always has
appeal, so when it's also this useful and priced so nicely means
it's going to be leaving us quickly. Call now!
