For Sale: 1969 Dodge Daytona Charger in New Port Richey, Florida

Vehicle Description

This exceptional and completely restored Charger Daytona XX29L9B386542 is one of 503 examples made in 1969, the build date on this particular Daytona is 5/20/69. This Daytona came from the factory powered with a 440ci 4bbl engine, 4 speed, A33 Trak Pac 3:55 Dana 60 sure grip differential, HD cooling, manual drum brakes, manual steering, F6 green paint and black interior. The car was purchased new at Waco Dodge in Waco, Texas, and after spending many years unused in the second owner’s garage, it was then was acquired by the third existing owner in 2016 and brought to Florida for restoration.

When purchased in 2016, the car was 100% complete and still original, unmolested except an old gold paint job over the F6 green and equipped with a 1970 440ci no vin warranty motor (I have saved the block, crank, rods and pistons, all included with the car if desired). During the restoration the car received a 1969 426ci Hemi engine that displays VIN number 9B414639. That VIN number confirms the 426 Hemi originated in one of the 22 factory 1969 Daytona’s equipped with a 426 hemi 4 speed. The complete VIN for that car is XX29J9B414639. To maintain factory Hemi specs the K frame and torsion bars were installed according to the correct factory 426 Hemi requirements. The Hemi was sent to NC for rebuild and dyno by engine builder Tim Petty with Moonshine Racing. The glove box door displays signatures of both legendary engine builders Tim Petty and his father Maurice Petty (RIP).

The car completed a five year very thorough rotisserie restoration; every original component that could be restored was put back in the car. If the component was not restorable it was replaced oem when possible or new factory correct. When the car was acquired in 2016 the body from the frame up was still in solid condition. The body restoration consisted of the deepest metal restoration and re-fab that a B-Body Chrysler can receive, along with the nose, which was refurbished in metal and not fiberglass. The excellent metal work and factory duplicate welding was done at one of the highest quality Daytona/Superbird metal restoration shops in the US located in GA at Vintage Metal. The paint process started with all perfect bare metal prior to the primer and application of the original F6 Bright Green Metallic paint along with the black wing and Daytona decals. The new five spoke chrome 15” Magnum 500 wheels are wrapped in new 60 series BF Goodrich Red line tires. The suspension consists of new Hemi torsion bars up front and factory correct leaf springs in the rear. The car has 11” drum brakes in the rear and the front drum brakes have been upgraded to the 1969 factory Bendix disc.

The cabin features all new Legendary black interior and door panels, carpet, front buckets and rear seat upholstery. The console and dashboard is restored original trimmed in wood grain along with a wood grain premium steering wheel. The dash offers a 150 mph speedometer, tick-toc tachometer, temperature, amp and oil pressure gauges. The mileage on the five digit odometer shows 65,814 miles, which is the same mileage it had the day acquired in 2016 and believed to be original. The car retains a fender tag (I have the original tag, its rusty but very legible) a partial broadcast sheet and a clear title.

This is Dodge’s classic unique American “super car”. The sleek aerodynamic nose, unmistakable rear wing and flush rear window scream speed even when sitting still. The name of the game is to win, and this car is a winner!
