Vehicle Description
1990 Ford F-150 4x4
The great-great-grandfather to the F-150 was the Ford F-1 which
debuted for 1948. It quickly became a favorite of farmers and small
business owners. Despite its name, it never participated in a
Formula 1 race. The F-150 moniker itself debuted for the 1975 model
year, as the name for Ford's half-ton pickup which slotted between
the lighter-duty F-100 and the heavier-duty F-250. Massive
popularity soon ensued. How massive? So much so that the Ford
F-Series has been not only the best-selling pickup for nearly 40
years running, but the best-selling vehicle for the last 34 years.
It has consistently outsold such hugely popular rides as the Honda
Accord and Toyota Camry. The F-Series trucks are so popular that
their total production comes in at a whopping 32 million trucks. In
2018 Ford sold over 1.075 million F-Series trucks, averaging a sale
every 29.3 seconds.
For consignment, a 3 generation of the popular Ford F-150 pickup
truck and this one comes to us in 4x4 form. Our consignor states
it's all original on the paint front, interior, and engine. Get
picked up here at Classic Auto Mall.
Exterior
Medium Cabernet bathes the straight steel of this pickup that shows
only 1 rust area, that being on the seam between the driver's door
and the back of the cab, and it appears to be invasive. The
reminder of the body is rust free, and paint still retains its
shine. The grille and front and rear bumpers are looking good and
the hood front sports a bug shield. Trimmings encircle the wheel
wells and between these trimmings is a just above the rocker trim
that has a black vinyl upper and lower strip sandwiching a central
chrome spear. Mirrors are chromed, and on the back the tailgate has
an aluminum panel with a red stripe running through it and a FORD
badge at the passenger's edge. A slang sliding rear glass window
looks out to the bed which is lined with touch "Rugged" black
plastic on the sides, and a rubber mat in the center. 15-inch
polished steel wheels are wrapped by 31x10.5 x X15LT's on all 4
corners.
Interior
For the interior a red broadcloth bench stretches from door to door
and has some wear off on the driver's side on this bolster. Red
plastic moldings abound on the doors and create the various panels
for the armrest, storage bin upper and lower and the power window
and lock toggles. A small area of the red broadcloth is also seen
on the doors. A deep red dash original to the truck is on and
looking good. Black panels house the instruments, knobs and turns.
A factory black steering wheel is fronting the dash. A red
headliner is above, and red carpeting is below.
Drivetrain
Under the hood is a 5.0 liter V8 which is the engine the factory
put in. It has EFI and a 5-speed manual transmission on the back
with a 3.55 rear axle.
Undercarriage
Just patina and road dirt underneath and no rust noted. Power disc
brakes on front and power drums on back.
Drive-Ability
A nice used truck in good shape right out of 1990 and looking the
part in its 4x4 height. It started easily and ran like a champ on
the test track with no issues coming up during the drive.
Somewhat low original miles (48,521), and looking good and ready to
go to work, which is more than I can say about most people these
days!
