This beautiful Ivory 356 Speedster Replica was built in 2004 by Vintage Speedster, is in excellent condition, really nicely loaded and runs and drives as good as it looks! That’s correct, I did say Replica, but not just any replica….this speedster was hand built by Vintage Speedsters out of California, one of the original builders of Porsche Speedster Replicas. In fact they had built about 90% of all the Porsche Speedster replicas on the market and their quality and customer service was top notch. They sold the company several years ago. They used a custom built, jig welded 2×4″ 11 gauge steel frame. This rigid new structure retains the original VW floor pan designed by Dr. Ferdinand Porsche and integrates the largest frame possible. In addition the steering wheel is offset slightly just as it was in the original Speedster. While original Speedsters are a rare breed, Vintage Speedster Replicas are rare in their own right with roughly only 3000 built. This will be a great addition to any car guy or gals collection, or perfect for anyone looking for a truly unique sports car investment that can be driven anywhere as well be taken to the car shows and cruise-ins. Most people have no idea that this is not an original worth well over $200k and it will be up to you if you want to reveal the secret when you get stopped everywhere you go. This particular car was built in 2004 for the original owner in California and then changed hands one time to another gemntleman in San Diego who I purchased it from. I bought it from him and it transported in an enclosed trailer to my showroom here in the Atlanta GA. It is now available for the next lucky owner to enjoy...maybe you!!!?
As you will see in the pics, the body on this Speedster is in beautiful condition. Body panel fit is great and the doors on this replica open and shut like a new Porsche. Everyone who sees this car is extremely impressed with how authentic it looks. Paint still looks really nice. Flaws include t some very tiny rock chips along the front nose and bumper that have been touched up a few tiny dings in the chrome trim along the body. All of the chrome trim and stainless looks excellent and I actually replaced the chrome license plate light, side view nirrors, fornt and rear turn signals and horn grilles due to them showing minor signs of age and use. This one also has the additional bumper guards on front and rear. It also has the chrome luggage rack if you want to add some cool vintage leather luggage or it can be removed when not in use. I believe these Speedsters should be driven top down as often as possible but of course it is nice to know that if needed this Speedster has a gorgeous tan convertible top that goes up in minutes and fits very nicely. There are side window inserts as well. The top is in very good condition with just minor wear on the front corners. When you have the top down you have 2 options with this car since it was ordered with the optional full tonneau cover which allows you to close the whole cabin of the car when it is parked and zip out the drivers area during your ride. Or, simply use the boot cover. But please, enjoy this baby topless as much as possible!!!
Complimenting the gorgeous Red Exterior exterior is an equally impressive camel colored interior. This is an awesome color combination on these cars! The seats in this Speedster are the thicker, more cushioned seats that you would have found in the Cabriolet models back in the day. The interior is in great condition overall with a small wear spot in the carpeting next to the clutch where the drivers foot rests. Simplistic sophistication is the best way to describe the layout of the interior. Seat belts for both front passengers. There is a rear seat pad but I think it is more like a storage shelf than a seat. Door panels look great and house nice set of 5" speakers for the great sounding stereo system. Dash is neatly laid out with all of the gauges you need to monitor the performance of this air cooled 1915 cc dual carb engine. All of the gauges, lights, turn signals etc are working correctly. Nardi woodgrain Steering wheel adds to the period correct look. Lets not forget the air conditioning in this Speedster for those of you in those hot climates!
The 1915 cc dual carb air cooled engine is very strong and cruises along at highway speeds with no problem.This Speedster has just under 25,600 miles on it. It has been driven and enjoyed and also always maintained. A recent valve adjustment and oil change was performed. This particular car also has the upgraded 3.88 Freeway flyer transmission allowing you to cruise along at 70+ mph on the highway. The car has a nice tone from the tri-mil dual exhaust and you can hear it running in the video that follows. This little speedster also handles really well. Beautiful set of chrome wheels with a brand new set of emblem hub caps. . Braking is a breeze with the upgraded front disc brake option this one has. Maintenance is cheap and easy on this car and any foreign car mechanics should be able to do a valve adjustment and tune up every 3-4,000 miles to keep it running great The undercarriage looks great and engine bay is also nice and clean as you would expect. Turn the key and enjoy... It will be a ride to remember but make sure you leave a little extra time for all the questions and thumbs up you will get along the way. There is nothing this car needs but you in the drivers seat!! It is registered as a 1962 VW which makes it easy to register and insure.
