Vehicle Description
This 1982 Jeep Wagoneer Brougham is an opportunity at something
special. It's a believed three-owner example that is exceptionally
original and preserved. And this classic premium SUV comes with V8
power, four-wheel drive, a loaded A/C interior, and more. So if you
love these iconic lines, then you know this is a rare opportunity
at originality and quality.
This is part of a few years where the Wagoner's design is often
considered the most desirable. You have the updated square
headlight front end with a billet-like grille in a wave-like form.
But the rear still has the classic design with the wraparound tail
lights. The premium Brougham models strike the right balance where
they have the metal sides of the early Waggoneers, but the
full-length trim on the sides and inserts in the luggage rack have
the wood applique that was especially a hallmark of the later Grand
Wagoneers. You can see all of this so well today because of the
SUV's preserved condition. This is believed to only have three
owners over the last 40 years. In fact, the odometer is believed to
represent the full actual mileage - averaging about 2,500 miles
annually. So while many have seen a lifetime as a long hauler, this
one shows an impressive level of well-kept respect. The body looks
crisp, the lines are good, and the trim appears clean and complete.
The Jamaican Beige paint is even believed to be the original
application, and it still has the bright Khaki look of a 4x4 that
has never been on a long safari.
The outstanding presentation continues inside with intricate door
panels, plush carpeting, and a smooth feeling to the large dash.
And we especially love the seats. They have the pattern on the
velour inserts and the bright trim on the setbacks are pure vintage
cool, but it's all plush enough for modern comfort. There are
terrific classic details, too, including the smooth wood-like trim
on the doors, the working courtesy lights, and Jeep's AM/FM radio
still cranking out the tunes. More than just attractive for its
preservation, this one remains quite useful today. There's seating
for up to six people total, and the large rear storage has plenty
of room. But you'll also be perfectly happy cruising solo thanks to
the bucket seat up front with a folding armrest. There's also a
tilt steering column, cruise control, and cold-blowing air
conditioning to make this classic long-haul comfy.
The Jeep/AMC 360 cubic-inch V8 has been a long-standing powerhouse
utilized by some legendary stout vehicles. It has a highly correct
presentation, and the casting date is in-line with the production
date, so this is believed to be the original powerhouse.
Originality does not mean missing out on maintenance. The carb
looks newer, and we have a receipt documenting newer updates
including the coil, wires, cap, plugs, radiator, and water pump.
The three-speed automatic transmission feels both strong and
smooth, so it's an ideal partner for this SUV. The two-speed
transfer case four-wheel-drive system means this is a true Jeep.
But when that go-anywhere nature just means a run to the grocery
store, the power steering, power brakes, and front discs make any
journey easy.
The sale comes complete with the owner's manual, original
literature, and maintenance records. You know how rare it is to
