This 1967 Jaguar XKE Series 1 Coupe received a full nut and bolt
restoration that began in the late 1990s and was completed in the
early 2000s. It was a labor of love by its private owner, an
automotive industry executive, who consulted with the top Jaguar
suppliers in the county and followed the JCNA manual carefully. He
purchased the car from a co-worker in the early 1990s and slowly
began the process of completely disassembling and cataloging every
single piece for restoration. He then mounted the monocoque to a
rotisserie and stripped the body to bare metal and performed all
necessary repairs in the original style of craftsmanship using lead
instead of plastic filler. The car was repainted Carmen Red and all
exterior brightwork was restored by Performance Plating. The black
leather interior was retrimmed using materials supplied by G.W.
Bartlett. All mechanical systems were restored including an engine
and gearbox rebuild with machine work and parts being supplied by
Straight Six Inc. Since restoration, the car has been driven a few
hundred miles per year and serviced as needed.
This is a beautifully restored Jaguar XKE that retains its matching
numbers engine and is an excellent driver.
