If you are familiar with performance Chrysler products than you know that SRT (Street and Racing Technology) are the letters to look for. This is the same group that launched the Viper back in 1989. And when a Dodge Durango gets the SRT treatment, the result is an outrageous 6-passenger SUV that can blow the doors off most anything out there. This remarkable machine definitely means business, and if the exhaust note doesn’t convince you then maybe the “Launch” button will.
This 2018 model is a 1-owner vehicle and has been driven only 16,000 miles. It is finished in stunning Blue Pearl paint that is well complemented by the tinted rear windows and low gloss black 20 x 10 inch wheels. The tires are the factory Pirelli Scorpions in size 295/45. Other SRT body features include a performance front fascia and hood with air intake. It is a very sleek looking package that puts a terrific spin on the Durango without being over-the-top.
Power comes from a 6.4L Hemi V8 producing a hefty 475 hp and 470 ft-lb of torque. The 8-speed automatic transmission delivers power to all four wheels through an electronically controlled transfer case. You also get a factory performance suspension, big Brembo brakes, and a magnificent sounding exhaust. This SRT version is further equipped with track and acceleration timers along with a launch mode. This all puts the “sport” in “sport utility vehicle”, while the optional Trailer Tow package adds to the “utility” as well. Note this Durango is covered by the balance of its 5-year / 60k mile powertrain warranty.
The interior still smells like new and features leather and suede seating throughout. The front sport bucket seats are heated and ventilated with SRT logos and 8-way power adjusters. The second row provides heated captain chairs along with an optional center console plus roof mounted temperature controls. There is also removable third row seating that still leaves storage space out back. All the bells and whistles are there including an 8.4” color touch screen, navigation, climate control, and so much more. Other features include configurable driving modes, active noise cancellation, power liftgate, Beats 10-speaker sound system, and an optional sunroof. This model is further equipped with the Technology Package for safer, easier driving.
These days you see an SUV at every stoplight and in every parking lot. While they might offer a lot of convenience, most of them are rather plain and quite boring. The Durango SRT shakes all that up with looks and performance that really stand out.
