The word “performance” is not always used when describing a 4-door sedan. But you sure need it when talking this 2010 Chrysler 300 SRT-8. It takes the grand styling and luxury of the 300 model and combines it with a 6.1L Hemi engine, upgraded suspension, and Brembo brakes (among other things). The final product is a spacious, comfortable automobile capable of 0-60 in 4.7 seconds and a 13.2 second quarter mile. I’d call that performance.
This example is an exceptionally clean 1-owner car with only 19k miles. That’s less than 2k per year! The 300 departs from all the angular modern designs in favor of a clean, classic look that is also an homage to the original 1955 300C (sometimes referred to as the “first real muscle car”). The factory Inferno Red paint looks fantastic while the 20” forged aluminum wheels are the perfect size for the generous wheelwells. The SRT package also features more aggressive front and rear fascias along with discreet badging.
The engine is Chrysler’s well proven 6.1L Hemi rated at 425 hp and 420 ft-lb of torque – figures that are on par with the Corvette of the day! Power is delivered through a 5-speed automatic transmission feeding a 3.06 limited slip rear end. The suspension features an independent rear setup along with factory SRT upgrades to all springs, shocks, and stabilizer bars. There are also Brembo disc brakes all around that deliver world class stopping ability. The power steering has been performance tuned as well. All this hardware delivers a surprising driving experience from such a big American sedan.
The roomy interior has over 100 cubic feet of passenger space with leather and suede seats throughout. The front buckets offer a great blend of sport and luxury and are adorned with SRT8 insignias, while the rear compartment offers dual Mopar headrest entertainment systems with wireless headphones. Features include navigation, heated seats, and dual climate control. There is also a sunroof along with an excellent sound system that has a factory subwoofer in the trunk. The analog clock in the middle of the dash is a classy touch too.
The Chrysler 300 represents a refreshing change in the automotive landscape and is available in several different versions including the Touring, Limited, and 300C packages. But as any automotive enthusiast will tell you, the SRT-8 version is the gem of the bunch. I don’t think you’ll find one nicer or with lower miles than this fantastic example.
