Vehicle Description
Super clean and ready to rock, this 1985 Chevrolet C10 Custom
pickup is a fun, old-school style hotrod cruiser that's also very
practical. With a nickname like 'The Polish Tornado', you know this
beauty had to be unique, and it certainly lives up to that moniker
with a custom paint scheme, luxurious A/C interior, and a killer
stance that's setup through a full Air Ride suspension. As a former
show-circuit truck it's downright gorgeous, loaded with aftermarket
goodies, and plenty powerful, but it's also capable of hauling
stuff when you need it because it is after all a pickup. If ever
there was a time to get into the hobby with an attention-grabber
that can still be practical, this would be it with this super-cool
Squarebody Chevy.
Trucks are a booming segment of the hobby, and bring a reasonable
price of admission with lots of bang for your buck. However, the
flip side is that finding a good, clean truck that hasn't been
worked to within an inch of its life can be challenging. Squarebody
Chevy trucks in particular were often road hard and put up wet
throughout the years, but with this truck's show-car pedigree you
can rest assured it never fell victim to the trappings of hard
labor. Take one look at it you instantly know the only thing this
C10's ever had to haul were heavy car show trophies. Sure, the
styling is a bit old-school, but the choices the builders made back
when it was restored were wise, therefore it doesn't look too
dated. The first thing you notice is the custom Brown Metallic
paint, which is miles deep, very lustrous, and shines bright.
Custom gold pinstripe work surrounds stripe throughout the boy that
appear to have been airbrushed into a unique woodgrain effect, and
the result are spectacular. It's obvious this was a very expensive
paint job that employed high skilled professionals, and even though
it's been several years since the build was completed, it's held up
very well. Any imperfections that can be seen (and there aren't
many) could mostly be remedied with a clay bar and buff, or just
drive it as-is and turn heads everywhere you go. The condition of
the super straight bodywork, particularly the profile and bed,
bears out the hard work that was put into this clean stepside, and
with only 4,036 miles registering on the odometer (which are likely
'since built miles') it's plain to see why it's held up so well. A
billet grille was added up front, the door handles were shaved,
one-piece bumpers were polished bright fore and aft, and the
tailgate was smoothed and finished in that same woodgrain-style
airbrush work that looks simply amazing. The inside of that bed was
finished like a dance floor, with matching paint on the interior
walls and a light oak wood floor held down with chrome slats. And
when the Air Ride system is crouched down low atop those flashy
alloys, this stepside looks imply amazing!
You know that a truck this dramatic on the outside needs to be
special inside, and this custom cabin certainly doesn't disappoint.
Plush bucket seats split by a large center arm rest were swapped
inside, wrapped in high-end tan vinyl that's all-day comfortable
and looks great. Stock-style tan door panels with billet inserts
are at the flanks, matching the tan vinyl and billet accents that
make up the dash pad, a custom tan headliner was installed above,
and plush carpets line the floors and insulate the cabin from the
outside world. It's comfortable enough to live in all day and looks
great with only very minor signs of use, as expected for a truck
with 4K miles on the rewound clock. The custom dash is full of
Dakota Digital instruments inside the billet bezel, there's a
custom billet steering wheel with a leather rim, and even the trim
above the glove compartment was replacement with a custom billet
piece. Options include cold A/C, cruise control, tilt wheel, power
windows and locks, and a Pioneer AM/FM/CD/SAT head unit that powers
the upgraded stereo. The dual-fuel tank switch is just a short
reach away, and right next to it are the controls for the Air Ride
suspension system, discreetly stashed away inside the ash tray.
All that's pretty nice of course, but the thing that got our
attention with this one is the fuel-injected 350 cubic inch V8
under the hood that's reported to pump out 400HP. Complete with
heavy-duty hardware like a Holley EFI system, an Edelbrock aluminum
intake, long-tube headers, and an HEI ignition system, it runs like
it's 800 pounds lighter than it is. The engine looks shiny and
bright, which is entirely the point, featuring a tunnel-ram style
air cleaner, a chrome alternator, and chrome Chevrolet valve covers
that tend to show off a bit. The engine bay itself gets in on the
action as well, with shiny black inner fenders and a smoothed
firewall that was painted to match the body and punctuated with
'The Polish Tornado' moniker we mentioned before. Sto lat! A 700R4
4-speed automatic works hard behind the motor and can easily handle
highway speeds, sending power aft to the heavy-duty 10-bolt rear
end. Power steering and power front disc brakes improve the truck's
road manners and that full Air Ride suspension helps in that
department too, along with providing the owner with a nearly
infinite amount of stance options. The Flowmasters dual exhaust
system uses side exit turn-outs before the rear tires, so the
soundtrack might give things away, but you can't argue with the
spectacular sound. Billet Specialties wrapped with staggered
205/70/15 Goodyear front and 29x18x15 Mickey Thompson rear tires
finish the mean look, and punch up the rake to another level.
Dialed-in and ready to show-and-go, this Squarebody C10 is a unique
