You can just tell when someone has invested big time in a serious
street machine. This 1971 Chevrolet Nova Pro Street has much more
going for it than just the super-slick paint. Because while that's
grabbing all your attention, the full race-ready package (including
the fully-built 950 hp nitrous V8) is ready to blow the doors off
of EVERYONE.
The intimidating forward-leaning stance, full rear wing, and extra
tall cowl hood all instantly announce this is a street-eating Nova.
But what's particularly impressive is how they took the time to
give this mean machine a ton of flair. The Orange Crush paint has a
vividness that can almost glow in the dark. And the huge shine
coming off the finish also highlights how straight the bodywork is.
And black always looks great against orange. It's not only drawing
your attention to the lift-off cowl hood and big rear spoiler, but
it also gives you a great touch of vintage premium with the vinyl
roof. And the chrome shine of the bumpers and grille go well with
the Weld magnesium wheels. So while this one is unmistakably
powerful, it's also exceptionally stylish. And this level of
thoughtfulness is seen throughout the car. That's why it may look
almost too mean for a license plate, but you will be pleasantly
surprised how willing it is to cruise to the local cars &
coffee.
The interior is pure performance. The chrome-moly driver cage was
built in 2007 and is NHRA certified. You have dual racing seats up
front with RJS Racing five-point harnesses and with chest buckles
driver and pass cert to Dec 2023. There is no back seat so that
there's room to fit wide rear tires under the car as well as the
rest of the full custom safety cage inside. You get a race-ready
setup with the Precision Performance ratchet shifter, MPI
quick-release steering wheel, fire suppression system, and Racepak
dash panel with Pro Sportsman recorder. The race cage extends to
the trunk to protect the fuel cell and dual batteries. While this
is a full competition-grade setup, the pro street segment is about
providing a car that also runs on the local streets. So this has
some nice details like the orange houndstooth cloth seat inserts
that coordinate with the exterior, and the door panels were done to
match, too. You even have full carpeting, a proper headliner, and a
working dome light - the kind of things that get left out of a pure
stripped-out race car.
The hood completely lifts off like a competition-grade machine
should. But you'll also like doing this to show off the tidy and
shining professional presentation. The 555 cubic-inch Merlin II
block, and that's just the start of this performance build. It has
been enhanced and fortified with a Callies magnum crankshaft,
Diamond custom pistons, Total Seal rings, a custom grind camshaft,
a Comp Cams valve spring kit, aluminum heads, Holley four-barrel
carburetor, Brodix intake, and custom four-inch headers. There's
also a full nitrous kit. The full package was dyno-tested in 2017,
and it peaked at a whopping 951 horsepower! This is also supported
by the right pieces, including an MSD grid ignition box and a large
radiator with electric fan. There have been thousands $$$$$
invested in this one over the recent years, and the consignor even
states that every hose, line, and fitting was replaced in 2021.
It's this kind of dedication why this one feels confident on a
drive to the car show. Of course, it also knows exactly how to
dominate every quarter-mile. The transmission is a manual valve
body Powerglide w/3500 stall professionally built by Champion
Racing Transmissions. This feeds a strong Strange Engineering rear
end. As you look at the undercarriage photos, you'll spot more
great upgrades, like the tubular A-arms up front, a reinforced
four-link rear, four-wheel disc brakes, and adjustable coilovers
behind each wheel (QA1 front and Afco rear.)
The sale comes complete with maintenance records and the dyno
sheet. You can see there are a ton more details on this
award-worthy pro street machine. We don't have the room to list it
all here, but give us a call for all the details on this all-around
awesome build. Call today!!!
