Vehicle Description
A comprehensive restoration was completed on this 1979 Porsche 930
Turbo in 2017 and included an all-new upgraded engine,
transmission, suspension, bushings, adjustable rear sway bar
system, electrical system, fuel system and climate control. The
body was properly disassembled and then refinished in Venetian
Blue, and a new windshield and all-new moldings, trims and rubber
seals were installed during its reassembly. The undercarriage was
painted and undercoated, and the subframe was bead-blasted and
painted to factory specifications. Inside, the seats, roof and door
pillars, door panels, dashboard, dash fascia and center console
were re-covered in high-quality leather, and a Wurth
sound-deadening mat was fitted under the new carpet and sidewalls.
The headliner, sunroof, carpet edge moldings, rear parcel tray,
center tunneling carpet, trims, grommets and finishers are all new
as well. This custom Porsche is powered by a ProtoTech Stage 3
3.3-liter V6 engine that has been completely rebuilt and equipped
with a Motronic engine management system. The engine rebuild
included all-new bearings, performance rod bolts, GT2 head studs,
Mahle piston and cylinder set, timing chains and rails, new-style
cam sprockets, idler gears conversion kit updated to a hydraulic
oil-feed setup, valve springs and titanium retainers, 3-angle valve
job, rockers, Motronic Carrera high-clamp-load clutch and flywheel,
custom 54-row oil cooler, and powder-coated and polished engine
parts. The engine has also been outfitted with a new custom Garrett
Hybrid GT40 dual ball bearing turbo, custom headers, 304 stainless
custom mufflers with 4-inch polished outlet pipe and F1-style merge
collectors, custom air-to-air intercooler, custom Stage 3 fuel
injectors with Rising Rate ProtoTech fuel pressure regulator, twin
Bosch 962 high-pressure fuel pumps, and a new fuel system,
including tank, lines, filler neck, evaporator and sending unit.
The dual MSD system includes capacitive discharge control units.
The 4-speed manual transmission was upgraded with limited-slip
differential and rebuilt axles with new inner and outer constant
velocity joints. Stopping power is provided by upgraded 12-inch
front and 13-inch rear vented and slotted custom rotors, Brembo
4-piston monoblock calipers, stainless braided custom brake lines,
track metallic pads and brakes, with a master cylinder upgrade.
This custom Porsche rides on Speedline Alesio chromed wheels
wearing Michelin Pilot Sport tires with machined rear wheel spacers
for custom look and fitment.
