SURVIVORFRESHLY DETAILED, SERVICED, READY TO COLELCT! For much of
the postwar era and the turbulent 1960s in particular, Cadillac
remained the undisputed leader of the American luxury-car market.
For 1965, Cadillac positioned itself for continued success with
completely restyled bodies and replacement of the dated tailfins
with smart, up-to-date blade-type rear fenders. Greater interior
space was made possible with a new perimeter-frame chassis design,
allowing the engine to be moved forward six inches and replacing
the outdated X-member arrangement of the 1950s. The overall result
was both an unqualified success and a design statement of pure,
understated elegance, laid out with an architects precision,
according to Motor Trend magazine editors. As regulatory demands
increased, Cadillac engineers applied many new emissions and
safety-oriented features. An all-new 472 cubic inch V-8 engine
appeared in 1968 and maintained Cadillacs tradition of strong
performance with its 375-horsepower rated output and massive
torque. The De Ville Series was a key factor in Cadillacs continued
success, with detail refinements including a power-operated front
seat, illuminated door-panel reflectors, and richer appointments
inside and out, including Tiffany-like identification scripts and
more luxurious upholstery. The four-model De Ville line of the late
1960s included the 4-door/6-passenger formal Sedan and Hardtop
Sedan, the 2-door Coupe De Ville, and Convertible. The formal Sedan
was the lowest-production De Ville for 1968, with just 9,850
produced.Quite rare today, this 1968 Cadillac Sedan De Ville is
especially so with just 7,900 miles from new. Always garaged with
the Charles Cawley collection when not in use, it remains
all-original and simply immaculate throughout. Featuring
spectacular original black paint over a matching cloth-and-vinyl
interior, the Sedan De Ville is powered by Cadillacs famed
375-horsepower 472 cubic-inch V-8 engine and turbo-Hydramatic
3-speed automatic transmission. Highly equipped and optioned as
expected, passenger amenities include air conditioning, and AM/FM
radio, power brakes and steering, a power-adjustable front seat,
power windows, and tilt-telescopic steering. A roadside jack,
mounted spare wheel/tire, lug wrench, and owners manual are
included. Freshly detailed and serviced, this 1968 Cadillac Sedan
De Ville is quite possibly one of the lowest-mileage and
most-original cars of its kind and benefits from exceptionally
careful prior ownership. Call us today to find out more about this
incredible well-preserved Sedan De Ville and get ready to make it
yours!
