Vehicle Description
As a top retailer of customs, specialties and historical artifacts,
RK Motors Charlotte makes it easy for you to find cool versions of
a variety of collector cars. With that in mind, we're also the
outfit that strives to bring our clients unique and well-done
offerings that are approachable and effortlessly streetable. On
that note, our latest lights-out classic is this sweet Chevy 3100:
a timeless resto-mod that, thanks to its modern TCI chassis, modern
air conditioning and 492 horsepower, professional grade drivetrain,
cruises the blacktop like a bespoke and brawny champ!
THE NUANCES OF GRAY
Fully sorted and ready to roll, this polished pickup is the
beneficiary of a detailed, ground-up build that mixes head-turning
poise with proven athleticism. A heavy dose of tempered charm comes
courtesy of Selenite Gray Metallic Axalta ChromaBase two-stage. And
today, this custom rolls as a unique yet enduring classic that
celebrates the very best of America's indelible car culture! The
truck's monochromatic profile kicks off with a polished bumper,
which guards a stylized '57 3100 grille that's centered between
stainless-trimmed headlights and massaged parking lamps. A long
hood, relieved of its flashy header crest, fronts a filled cowl. A
chip-free greenhouse, shaved of both its drip rails and stainless,
caps fully shaved doors. Shaved fenders lead a spectacular bed
that's finished with screw-free skid strips and glossy wood planks.
In traditional hot rod fashion, those slick planks raise to reveal
a hidden fuel filler. And out back, a familiar Chevrolet tailgate
centers bold banner lettering between sleeved chains, capped rails
and a custom roll pan that's dotted with flashy taillights.
BIG BLOCK POWER
Pop the hood and you'll find 498 cubic inches of big block Chevy
stroker that's been freshly rebuilt by the folks at Mooresville,
North Carolina's ProMotor Engines. At the top of that massive mill,
a polished Chevrolet air cleaner dumps oxygen through a big Holley
4-barrel that's married to braided fuel lines and a spry electric
choke. Wind and fuel make their way through an Edelbrock Victor Jr.
intake to lightweight aluminum heads, which float finned and
polished valve cover under a duo of polished breathers. The fires
get lit by a hot aftermarket distributor, which sparks loomed
Taylor plug wires. Compression is created by a COMP hydraulic cam.
Spent gases fall through coated Sanderson block huggers. At the
front of those tubes, a billet serpentine drive spins a Stewart
water pump between a polished alternator and a polished AC
compressor. At the front of those ancillaries, electric puller fans
cool a beefy aluminum radiator. The truck's massaged engine bay is
detailed with quality items like billet tanks, a deep oil pan, a
polished dipstick and buff Eddie Motorsports hood supports. And it
all adds up to a stout 492 dyno-proven horsepower and 535 lb./ft.
of dyno-proven torque.
BUILT TO ENJOY
Slide beneath this rig and you'll find a clean, road ready
undercarriage that's founded on a sturdy Total Cost Involved
chassis. Those Satin Black bones get led by a modern independent
front-clip, which cages Detroit Speed-equipped coil-overs in
polished spindles and polished control arms. Opposite that clip, a
4-link rear suspension stacks two more modern coil-overs on a web
of polished bars. A dressed 700R4 4-speed twists torque to a
Selenite Gray Metallic pumpkin that's built with a Truetrac posi,
31-spline axles and big, 3.70 gears. That momentum is countered by
a floor-mount brake booster, which pushes power to polished
calipers and a quartet of drilled and slotted rotors. Turns come
courtesy of power rack-and-pinion steering. The aforementioned
headers dump spent gases into large-diameter pipes, which inflate
polished resonators and polished Kooks mufflers. A small Quick Car
gauge monitors a massive fuel tank. And at the corners, color-keyed
Foose Four42s spin 28x10.00R18 Mickey Thompson Sportsman S/Rs in
front of 29x15.00R20 Mickey Thompson Sportsman S/Rs.
COOL IN CONTRAST
But the show doesn't stop there. Not by a long shot! When you pop
the doors, you'll find a detail-oriented cockpit that, like the
truck's slick body, is dialed in for both style and substance. Top
dead center, a crisp dash hangs sleek AutoMeter Prestige telemetry
next to hidden controls for modern audio and modern air
conditioning. A diamond-stitched bench is perfectly aligned with
custom door skins that are dotted with small power window switches.
A trick mirror reflects a tight custom headliner. Clean carpet
highlights billet foot pedals and a strategically placed E-brake
handle. And the driver spins a polished and wood-rimmed steering
wheel around a tilting column.
Easy to cruise and fun to look at, this choice Chevy should make
every enthusiast smile. It backs modern performance with a solid
restoration that's ready to conquer the blacktop and stop the show!
