For Sale: 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle in Charlotte, North Carolina

Vehicle Description

Over the past few years, we've certainly seen some choice resto-mods. But this slick Chevelle, wrapping a hot BluePrint Engines LS3 in timeless, all-American aesthetics, is certainly one of the coolest! Fully sorted and ready to hit the road, this awesome Chevy combines a whopping 548 dyno-proven horsepower with tailored yet aggressive swagger. And today, thanks to a fresh nut-and-bolt restoration, not only is it a sweet place to cruise the streets, it's also instantly recognizable muscle that could easily rule the front row. Looking for a dreamy classic that simply has it all? This awesome hardtop checks every box!

HOW TO TURN HEADS

Buff, bad and ready to rock and roll, this pristine Chevelle is the beneficiary of a ground-up, nut-and-bolt restoration that was completed by a dedicated enthusiast who's spent decades building choice Chevelles and gnarly GTOs. That high quality reboot, completed in late 2021, dressed solid sheetmetal in a noble coat of glossy PPG Metallic Blue two-stage. And today, this handsome Chevy walks a fine line between tastefully modern and traditionally conservative.

The car's clean profile flames to life with a predictable Super Sport grille that centers a prominent "SS396" emblem between a fresh bumper and stainless-trimmed T3 headlights. At the top of that grille, a familiar Super Sport Hood leads smoked glass that's cased in clean stainless and cleared by polished wipers. At the sides of the car, intricate emblems join traditional Super Sport rocker trim to add a little pizzazz while factory door handles perfectly complement a classy bowtie mirror. And out back, a second fresh bumper traces a Satin Black valance that's dotted with requisite Super Sport badging and traditional Chevrolet taillights.

HOW TO SPREAD SMILES

Lift the hood and you'll find 6.2 liters of smooth LS3 small block that, sourced directly from the pros at BluePrint Engines, twists 548 dyno-proven horsepower into of 507 lb./ft. of dyno-proven torque! That aluminum monster eats through a prominent Cold Air Intake, which bends a polished tube behind a fresh Spectre filter element. That tube fronts a 90mm Drive by Wire throttle body, which fronts a lightweight composite intake that's loaded with factory-style fuel injection. That intake rides aluminum BluePrint Engines heads, which float billet valve covers under factory-style coils and a billet oil cap. Stout 10 to 7 compression gets bumped by an iron crank, hypereutectic pistons and a spry hydraulic roller cam. Those balanced internals funnel spent gases through coated Doug's headers. A big aluminum radiator fronts a big puller fan. A billet CVF serpentine drive spins a polished AC compressor opposite a polished alternator. A roster of first-rate ancillaries includes a polished brake booster, a polished master cylinder and billet fluid reservoirs. And the six-bolt mill rolls in a restoration-fresh engine bay that's decked in smooth, Satin Black paint.

HOW TO LOG MILES

Take a gander under this cool A-Body and you'll find a battle dressed chassis that mixes new age technology with old school durability. Power drops through a tough Tremec TKX 5-speed, which, along with its McLeod Super StreetPro twin-disc clutch and the aforementioned LS3, was purchased as part of a matched set from BluePrint Engines. That box spins an aluminum driveshaft that was sourced directly from Inland Empire Driveline. A familiar 9-inch axle, sourced from Speedway Motors, twists fun, 3.50 gears. Those cogs push factory bones that have been thoughtfully supplemented with an oversized sway bar, Helix Suspension control arms and QA-1 coil-overs. Fluid power steering leads a quartet of powder-coated The Right Stuff Detailing calipers, which grab a quartet of drilled and slotted rotors. Large-diameter exhaust pipes swirl spent gases through an X-shaped crossover and rowdy Pypes Street Pro mufflers. And at the corners, chromed Ridler 606s spin 225/45ZR18 Continental ExtremeContacts in front of 275/35ZR20 Continental ExtremeContacts.

HOW TO RIDE IN STYLE

Swing this Chevy's doors and you'll find a restoration-fresh cockpit that's been updated with just the right amount of modern kit. Front and center, a traditional bench and bucket seat set-up lines plush TMI hides with tight blue stitching. A requisite Super Sport dash plants clean Classic Instruments telemetry next to controls for modern air conditioning and a modern, Bluetooth-capable head unit that bumps three crisp speakers. Factory side panels frame fresh carpet, which frames a billet accelerator pedal and a polished Hurst shifter. The driver enjoys the car's power through a tasteful Chevrolet Rally Wheel, which laps a modern, tilting column. And the passenger's stow essentials in a fully upholstered trunk.

When it comes to maximizing the amount of metal your money buys, you simply can't go wrong with a purpose-built resto-mod. Thanks to its exceptional attention to detail, this top dog Chevy is a great driving piece that's fun, unique AND reliable. If you're looking for an awesome classic that commands respect on both the boulevard and the show field, this choice Chevelle is just your style!
