The "R129" SL500 was the first fully retractable soft top for
Mercedes-Benz. In 1990 Mercedes-Benz showcased this revolutionary
design and created the 500SL. This final year of production SL500R
"Silver Arrow" Edition is one of just 1,450 Silver Arrow editions
made for U.S. production with 19,004 actual miles. The Silver Arrow
was built to commemorate Mercedes-Benz racing history. This Silver
Arrow is finished in the exclusive Silver Arrow Metallic paint
color code 777, with a special two-tone silver and black Nappa
leather. This example is equipped with a unique AMG front spoiler,
lower side skirts and rear apron as part of the AMG Styling
Package, as well as a power-retractable black soft-top, hardtop,
xenon headlights and Silver Arrow badging. The convertible top
hydraulic cylinders were replaced in preparation for the sale.
Multi-piece 18-inch wheels wear Michelin Pilot Sport tires
displaying 2019 date codes. An Electronic Stability Program (ESP)
was equipped from the factory, and braking is handled by
cross-drilled rotors at all four corners. The climate control
system was overhauled in 2019 with a replacement compressor and
drier. The 5.0-liter M113 V8 engine factory rated at 302hp and 339
ft/lbs of torque, and power is sent to the rear wheels through a
5-speed automatic transmission. A VMI report, service records and
manufacturer's literature are also included in the sale, along with
two original Mercedes-Benz Master remote keys, first-aid kit,
owner's manuals and very extensive service records. Clean CARFAX
