Vehicle Description
This 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle SS is a real-deal coded 138 Super
Sport, but what will really attract you is how much this one is
much "more." The big block under the hood has more displacement for
more power. You get more control over it with an upgraded
five-speed. And you get to enjoy it all in more comfort thanks to
the A/C interior.
The idea of "more" on this Chevelle starts with the exterior. The
red is a more vibrant color than the factory white, and this update
is a modern clearcoat application that gives you a nice gloss and
shine. This car has a total quality style. You see it in the bright
chrome bumpers, clean glass, pliable weather-stripping, and clean
body lines. So it's a great way to represent a hardtop icon. This
is a real-deal Super Sport, and so you get the best features, like
the blackout grille, hood vent trim, full SS badging, ribbed
rockers, and large dual exhaust tips. And you get a classic set of
Rally wheels, and the extra-wide rear set means more rubber meets
the road where it counts the most.
The black interior looks great against the vibrant red exterior,
especially because you can see there was a solid investment
all-around inside. There are even nice details like the working
dome light. And this also has the right upgrades for a great
cruiser, including an AM/FM digital tuner and cold-blowing R134a
air conditioning. Plus, you'll really appreciate the
driver-oriented package. You have front bucket seats, a center
console-in between, classic grippy Chevelle steering wheel, Stewart
Warner auxiliary readouts, and correct tach mounted below the dash.
And have you counted the gears on the Hurst shifter yet?
The dark inner walls of the engine bay seem to love to showcase the
tidy monster in the middle. The red block goes with the exterior
color and the accents on the valve covers. And those even have the
classic SS396-style callouts. But the air grabber tells the true
story of this bigger big block. It's a 496 cubic-inch stroker V8.
This was rebuilt only about 4k miles ago, and more than just fresh,
it's powerful. This was built with aluminum heads, an Edelbrock
aluminum intake, and topped with a CCS Performance four-barrel
carburetor. It also has good supporting components, like steel
braided lines w/AN fittings, a large fan, Moroso wires, and a full
MSD ignition system. The Hooker headers add power while exhaling to
the dual exhaust. And whenever you really want this big block to
bring the thunder, there are electric cutouts to bypass the
mufflers. You get full control over this enhanced V8 and rumbling
soundtrack with the upgraded Tremec five-speed manual transmission.
This feeds into a stout 12-bolt Positraction rear end with 4.10
gears for confident and powerful take-offs. You also have the right
features for good driving, like power steering, power brakes, front
discs, and upgraded rear arms.
