When your 1968 Chevrolet Chevelle SS Tribute has a bold presence, a
beautiful interior, and a performance small block, you know you're
looking at something quite special.
This has the proper look of a speedy Chevelle. It has been upgraded
with aggressive elements like the blackout grille, blackout rear
panel, hood pins, and side exhaust pipes. And the cowl hood is made
of fiberglass to save weight while having the authoritative look of
the power dome style. Plus, those Ridler 18-inch wheels give this a
great stance, and they also have a high-polish shine to go with the
chrome bumpers and trim. The D96 sports stripe package is the
correct way to present a Super Sport tribute, and the white looks
particularly distinctive against the red paint. And speaking of the
finish, it has a nice gloss of a more recent investment. We're told
it was resprayed about three years ago, and it has the smooth style
to back up the feeling of a fresher and modern application.
The black interior is what we love to see on muscle machines. The
seats, door panels, headliner, and carpeting all have a deep and
dark appearance from a noticeable investment in quality. So you'll
happily leave the windows rolled down on this pillar-less hardtop
to let people see the full package inside. There are some great
classic pieces here used for display, like the Delco AM radio and
A/C control panel (it will need servicing and components if you
want to return the function.) And even the dome light comes on when
you open the door. But as a proper SS tribute, it has additions to
the stock-style components to make sure you get the best driving
experience. So you have classic low-back bucket seats, a center
console, and a horseshoe shifter. And there are also upgrades like
a GT Grant sports steering wheel and cleanly installed auxiliary
gauge trio.
The lightweight fiberglass hood lets you in on some of the thinking
behind this SS. It thinks about bulk within its performance. So
while it's an SS396 tribute, this one utilizes a lighter 327
cubic-inch small block. It's the centerpiece for a clean and tidy
look in the engine bay. It also wants to live up to its full Super
Sport heritage, and so the consignor claims this is a full
performance build. It includes being bored .060 over and built with
a mild cam (.487/.490), hydraulic lifters, an Edelbrock four-barrel
carburetor, Edelbrock intake, and headers feeding the Flowmaster
dual exhaust. You can also see they have invested in the supporting
components with a newer polished brake booster, polished
alternator, and a Champion aluminum radiator. This is a nice power
package, but it's also made for all-around solid driving. So you
have features that make it easy to enjoy, like a three-speed
automatic transmission, power steering, power brakes, and front
discs. Plus, those upgraded wheels mean you get to fit modern
performance tires.
This is a well-done SS tribute that loves to be powerful in a
distinctive way. Call today!!!
