For Sale: 1987 Buick Grand National in Lithia Springs, Georgia

Vehicle Description

This 1987 Buick Grand National is a one-owner car. Oh yeah, this has spent 35 years under the same care! So while we love all of the turbo-powered GNs for their dark and aggressive attitude, as you look closer at this one, you'll also see the level of respect and investment that you really want in your classic.

You already know the legend. General Motors had a short run of Buick coupes that looked mean and had the performance to back it all up. Its Regal siblings have a great creased appearance that instantly conveys a feeling of premium. But where they liked to use chrome to make a statement, this one reserves the brightwork only for the wheels. That sends a very different message. The blacked-out trim, the bulging hood, and the subtle ducktail spoiler all give this car a look that demands respect. And there's something special about a one-owner example. While the odometer has likely rolled over twice, it was driven with pride. So the body lines are straight, the glass is clean, and the special badging is bright and complete. This was also treated to a quality respray later in life so that it still has a good gloss that lets you enjoy it from day one.

The correct black and gray bucket seats up front do a terrific job of balancing out the Buick's comfortable image with extra bolstering for the Grand National's added performance. Plus, the well-preserved condition of these seats, door panels, and headliner are all more reminders of the advantage of a one-owner car. As a true high-end Buick, this comes loaded with all the best features. It includes a power driver's seat, power windows, power locks, and cruise control. Plus, you've got the right well-integrated upgrades like an AM/FM/CD stereo and the air conditioning is blowing cold with modern R134a.

What makes this one so special is what's under the hood. The 3.8-liter fuel-injected V6 turbo motor turned this Buick into a Corvette contender. And because the powerplant is so essential, this one has received some big investments recently. In fact, the consignor states the motor was rebuilt about 10k miles ago. It's now chipped and has a higher capacity intercooler, which is the right setup to tune the larger 16 lbs. of boost. There's even an upgraded header package feeding the exhaust. Plus, the four-speed automatic transmission was said to be rebuilt about 35k miles ago. The result is upgraded performance in a package that runs smooth enough to make you think the odometer is really showing its full mileage. New hydroboost power brakes, front discs, power steering, and sway bars front & rear deliver a coupe that's a powerful but comfortable classic.

The sale can come with extras like an extra set of keys, factory exhaust, stock brake system, and original radio if you desire to have a more stock package. It's almost impossible to find these ultra-desirable Grand Nationals with just one owner. So this is a case of calling us today, or you might regret it tomorrow!
