Vehicle Description
When it comes to the new group of young classics, a Cobra like this
is king. The 1993 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra is a one-owner coupe that
packs rarity, power, and poise in a well-documented package. So
it's time to grab this bright and loaded specialty machine.
The third-generation Mustang was having its swan song in 1993, but
the Special Vehicle Team (SVT) at Ford decided to send it off with
something extraordinary. They made this final year the one and only
time for the Cobra package. The exterior was given subtle upgrades
with a new grille up front, a vintage pony emblem in place of the
blue oval, and chrome cobras on the fenders. The rear has some
interesting features such as a unique SVT spoiler and a new light
arrangement not seen since the rare Mustang SVO. The 7-spoke,
17-inch aluminum wheels are unique to these one-year-only Cobras,
and so it's great to have them looking so sharp. This is a factory
Vibrant Red Clearcoat car, and the full package shows all the right
signs of being original. The odometer is also believed to reflect
this car's full actual mileage with a six-figure rollover, and so
you will see signs of some use over the years. But the full story
is about how you have a car that has been under one-owner care. And
this has the crisp and clean lines of a properly preserved machine.
There was even a bra protecting the front end for decades (it comes
with the sale.) And right now is the best time to discover such a
well-respected SVT Cobra. This is approaching the 30-year
threshold, and that lets it qualify for antique/classic car plates
in benefits in nearly every state that offers it. So this is a true
classic in every sense. It even has the right rarity. There were
only 4,993 Cobras in this single-year batch, and less than 2k were
finished in red. Plus, the interior makes this combo one of less
than 600!
The gray leather interior was a pricey option, but it makes this
one look extra premium and it's also what gets the rarity down to
such a tantalizing number. Just like the exterior, the inside of
this car has a preserved look that shows responsible use. The
interior is also where a new classic like this Cobra really shines
because there is a lot of modern integration. After all, where else
is there a car this cool that comes with an airbag? The front
bucket seats have real bolstering to make long trips vastly more
comfortable and supportive. Another advantage of driving a new
classic is a factory-installed HVAC system that can blow some
serious arctic air all day long. It's loaded with plenty more
features, including power windows, power locks, power mirrors,
power steering, a tilt column, rear defroster, and the rare factory
AM/FM/CD stereo option.
What makes the Cobra so special is the extra engineering. The SVT
department started with the trusty 5.0-liter V8 block, and then
they did some in-house shopping at Ford Motorsports. This includes
the larger valves of the GT-40 cylinder head package, high-flow
fuel injectors, performance camshaft, revised computer programming,
and a GT-40 intake. The result was one of the meanest cars Ford
slipped out the back door. And the whole engine bay of this one
still looks factory-fresh! They also beefed up the clutch and the
dependable Borg-Warner T-5 five-speed manual transmission to make
sure all the power is handled reliably. Four-wheel power disc
brakes, sway bars front & rear, and a limited-slip rear end are all
part of SVT's package for a terrific Mustang.
The sale comes with all the right paperwork for a valued classic,
including the original window sticker, SVT certificate, warranty
card, owner's manual packet, title documentation, and original
brochures. This is the Cobra that's ready for its second owner. So
