Vehicle Description
The 1960 Chevrolet Impala is a true sought-after classic. After
all, the "Bubble Top" coupes are one of the best icons of the era.
So to find the unique year presented with a ton of vintage style
and a few of the right subtle upgrades, it really makes for one
special coupe you'll happily cruise everywhere.
The bubble top comes from a time when the best designers really
dictated what hit the streets. The streamlined roof is almost
flying on air with the open pillar-less hardtop and wraparound
glass both front and rear. And just as striking were the tailfins
that if they were positioned vertically would have taken the size
record from Cadillac. With such a unique year for design, it's nice
to find an example like this with clean glass and complete trim.
The red paint is always a good choice on a car like this. It has a
glossy finish, but this is a true cruise, so the overall impression
makes sure nothing here gets too fancy to make you too nervous to
get out and enjoy this hardtop. Running the same length as the fin
is the cool jet-inspired white and chrome trim that's a hallmark of
these premium speedy Chevys. And that streak of white is also a
great match for the roof and wide whitewalls for a terrifically
coordinated total package.
The full red interior has a handsome style that makes it easy to
keep all the windows down on this pillarless hardtop so people can
see the full package inside and out. This classic was made to be
driven, and so you have the right updates for a cruiser like comfy
velour upholstery, plush capering, a fitted dash cover, and
seatbelts in both rows. But nothing ever takes away from the
vintage atmosphere. It's a true classic, right down to details like
the working dome light and AM radio that's still cranking out
tunes. And the Impala's artful dual-spoke steering wheel gives you
a clear view of the five individual gauge pods that look
particularly sporty.
Under the hood is a 283 cubic-inch V8. This looks exceptionally
correct - from the Chevy orange on the motor to the air grabber. In
fact, it's even a year-correct block. But it still has the right
upgrade, like an alternator. And the way this V8 fires up and idles
smoothly really tells you it wants to be the classic you take out
to be enjoyed. That's why you have nice easy driving features like
power steering, power brakes, and an automatic transmission. And
the glasspack-style dual exhaust gives the V8 that ideal tone.
Complete with owner's manual, this is an ultra-desirable Bubble Top
Impala that has been done so that you can show it off with ease. So
if you love driving your classic, you know you need this hardtop.
