Vehicle Description
This 1965 Pontiac GTO has been given investment to continue a great
vintage style with the correct color combo and a ton of
period-correct details. But the reason why you really find this one
so irresistible is that under the hood is a freshly rebuilt
tri-power V8, and you get to take full control thanks to
four-on-the-floor. It all makes for a head-turning classic with
back-pinning muscle.
The factory-correct Burgundy is a cool color for a GTO. It has some
of the aggressiveness of red that this muscle car earns, but with a
deeper and more sophisticated tone that gives this one added
distinction. The respray was said to have happened only about five
years ago, and so there's a nice shine that loves to show how crisp
and straight the body panels are. The gaps are great, the doors
close with confidence, and brightwork is complete. So this one has
a quality style. The PHS documentation shows this is a real-deal
GTO, and it has all the right pieces that make you love the
granddaddy of the muscle car. This includes the hood scoop,
vertical stack headlights, and taillight panel that reaches around
the fenders. The finishing touch to this vintage package is the set
of Rally wheels with classic redline tires.
The black interior goes nicely with the deep tone of the burgundy
exterior, and this hardtop was born with this attractive color
combo. There was a nice investment to make sure that this remains
looking vintage. You see it everywhere from the pattern on the
bucket seats, to the correct GTO badging in the taut door panels.
And the dark atmosphere is nicely warmed up with the premium wood
appearance trim on the dash, steering wheel, and center console.
Everything here truly has a vintage feel, right down to the working
dome light and AM radio that's still playing music. And they even
go the extra mile to make sure the performance sensation is pure
retro-cool. That's why you have the correct racing flag
speedometer, a large tach, a Hurst shifter, and classic-style
Stewart Warner green line auxiliary readouts under the dash.
Under the hood is Pontiac's mighty 389 cubic-inch V8. This is a
year-correct block, but it looks far fresher because this was
rebuilt only about a year ago...there's only about 200 miles on it
since! So there was no time to get the bright Pontiac turquoise
dirty or even lose any shine on the valve covers. This 389
cubic-inch V8 is now a roller motor, and those three air toppers
announce that you have the triple set of dual-barrel carbs on top.
This Tri-Power motor warms up to be a very stout runner and makes
plenty of throaty sounds out of the X-pipe dual exhaust with
Flowmaster mufflers. The four-speed manual transmission puts you in
control of it all. Plus, features like power steering, power
brakes, and upgraded rear suspension w/sway bar all deliver a
feeling of control.
The sale comes complete with good paperwork, including the original
warranty card, owner's manual, build receipts, and PHS
Documentation. This GTO likes to drive with pride and looks good on
arrival. That makes for the kind of vintage package you need to get
your hands on right now.
