Vehicle Description
This is not a Carrera 2 and does not have a 4-cam engine. This is a
tribute that, when restored, was outfitted to look like a Carrera
2
CPR Classic is delighted to offer this 1964 Porsche 356C Coupe
finished in Red over a light gray leather interior. This example is
numbers matching to include its engine and gearbox. The original
color combination was Light Ivory over Red leatherette, which was
changed when the car went through the restoration that it now
wears. The car was originally imported and sold by Brumos in
Jacksonville, Florida, in 1964.
The restoration was performed with an emphasis on making the car
look like a Carrera 2, and multiple Carrera 2 style parts were
sourced for the build. A Carrera 2 rear valence was installed. A
front-mounted oil cooler with oil lines installed through the
passenger inner fender was also added to replicate the oil cooler
that an original Carrera 2 would wear. The front horn grills were
deleted and allow for added airflow to the oil cooler. The interior
is nicely outfitted with a wooden Carrera 2 steering wheel and VDO
rally gauges. A modified muffler was fitted with chrome tips to
replicate the look of a Carrera 2 exhaust. A Carrera 2 rear badge
rounds out the aesthetic.
The overall quality of this restoration is superb. The paintwork is
outstanding with excellent depth and little to no imperfections of
any kind. All of the exterior body panels are within factory
specifications and fit beautifully. All of the car's brightwork and
chrome have either been fully restored or replaced. The interior is
finished in full gray leather and is in excellent condition.
Matching headrests were added and look lovely. Correct square weave
carpet has been installed throughout as well as a new headliner and
visors. The gauges are fully overhauled with new glass and bezels,
and the added Carrera steering wheel brings warmth when climbing in
for a drive.
The engine and gearbox received their respective overhauls when the
car was restored. The matching-numbers engine was overhauled to
stock 1600cc 356C specifications and produces about 75
horsepower.
This 356C presents a lovely opportunity for someone looking for an
excellent driving and aesthetically stunning Porsche 356. The light
Carrera style modifications give the car a more aggressive
aesthetic, and the quality of the restoration work looks lovely
from all angles. This 356 will serve its next owner with many
smiles and spirited drives for years to come.
