Vehicle Description
A 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle convertible will always make a great
first impression. After all, the factory drop-tops of this muscle
car legend are rare. But what makes it even more attractive is when
one has been given investments to be an SS tribute that does it
better than the original. So check out the bigger big block,
five-speed upgrade, and all the other details that make this a
terrific and powerful classic.
Nothing but red and black is exactly how you want a muscle car to
look, and so this has been prepared that way. The upgraded fiery
paint is part of a later respray, and it has been responsibly
enjoyed since. It shows off an attractive clearcoat shine every
time you take this convertible out for a sunny day cruise - exactly
what you want in a sunshine-friendly drop-top. With the black SS
stripes painted on, it makes for a fantastic coordination with the
blacked-out grille, blacked-out tail panel, and power convertible
top. So this one really does know how to command attention. The
form-hugging bumpers have a mirror-like shine, and it matches
nicely with the polished Cragar SS wheels. And details like the
large dual exhaust tips and twin power dome hood add the perfect
upgrade in aggression.
Beneath the snug-fitting black roof is a nice black interior - so
this drop-top has a great overall appearance with the roof up or
down. Everyone loves to see bucket seats and a center console in a
muscle machine. This convertible feels nice inside with the
carpets, door panels, upholstery, and dash all retaining their
deep, dark appearance. And it wouldn't be a true cruiser without
upgraded driving music. So you have a retro-style AM/FM digital
tuner and a CD changer in the trunk. And this is built to be a true
driver's car with a dual-spoke steering wheel on a tilt column, an
auxiliary gauge trio under the dash, and a large SunPro tach on top
of the steering column. And have you counted the gears on the Hurst
shifter yet?
This is the kind of motor that will make you proud to lift the hood
at car shows. The 454 cubic-inch big block is a larger motor than
what was offered in 1969, and this one is dressed to impress. The
clean inner fenders funnel your attention to the bold orange block
paint, shining valve covers, cross-flags air grabber, upgraded
pulleys, and all the other big polish pieces. If you look closer,
you can spot useful upgrades such as the Optima red top battery,
dual electric fans, and an aluminum radiator. It's built for plenty
of muscle with upgrades like a Holley four-barrel carburetor, an
Edelbrock Performer intake, and Hooker long tube headers feeding
the dual exhaust. The Tremec TKO600 five-speed manual transmission
is built stout for power and gives you an extra gear than the
factory ever did. This feeds into an Eaton HD 3.90 rear end with
Positraction to confidently get the power to the pavement. Plus,
there's power steering, power brakes w/discs up front, and raised
letter Cooper Cobra tires at all four corners.
The sale comes complete with build receipts and maintenance
records. Chevrolet only built 8,950 Chevelle drop-tops in 1969,
making them a very rare commodity nearly a half-century later. So
to find an SS tribute so nicely presented with a growling V8 under
the hood is the kind of treat that doesn't come around very often.
