Largely regarded as one of the best deals on performance cars, the C5 Corvette is powered by a 5.7L V8 that produced a strong 350 horsepower before the additional modifications this example has. Additional performance modifications include modified heads, a performance camshaft, upgraded intake, performance fuel injection system, an aftermarket air intake, and a Corsa exhaust. The selling owner notes that the performance modifications came from Mallett Cars out of Charleston, NC. The V8 is mated to a smooth shifting, desirable 6-speed manual transmission that goes into each gear confidently. Power is sent to the rear wheels and the exhaust makes a glorious note especially with the more aggressive cam set up. All of this, along with four-wheel independent suspension, and magnetic ride control make for a wonderfully driving sports car.
In 2003 Chevrolet celebrated the 50th Anniversary of the Corvette. As a commemoration to the anniversary, Chevrolet included special edition badges on 2003 models of the Corvette. This example has a striking appearance as it is finished in Millennium Yellow over a black interior.
Introduced in 1997, the "C5" generation Corvette was a radical styling departure from the angular C4s. In addition to looking more contemporary, the C5 featured General Motors latest technology including drive-by-wire throttle, variable-effort steering, and optional magnetic selective ride control suspension. With an all-aluminum LS1 5.7l V8 and lightweight composite bodywork the C5 offered performance on par with contemporary Ferraris and Aston Martins.
