"Once again, Thunderbird leads the way in luxury." This is how Ford described Thunderbird for 1966. Our Town Landau Coupe was purchased new at L. F. Donnell Inc. in Youngstown Ohio on October 11, 1965. The original owner kept the car until 1973 with only 38 k original miles.
Owner number 2, was a serious Thunderbird enthusiast, having owned them since 1959.
This car was a pleasure vehicle, only used for special occasions.
Finished in code V Emberglow metallic, the car was disassembled and repainted sometime in the late 1970s. This repaint sill looks like "show quality" work. The interior is completely original, including the carpets and still looks fantastic.
Options would include; factory AC, power steering, power brakes, power windows, power vent windows, power door locks, factory AM/FM radio, 8-way power driver's bucket seat, 8-way power passenger bucket seat, both seats recline with headrests, headliner gauges, slide-away steering column, dual-chrome mirrors, fender skirts. Everything on this car functions as it should.
Open the trunk, and you'll find the original trunk mats, complete spare tire and jack tools, the original jacking instructions label is still attached to the underside of the deck lid. You'll also see original assembly line markings on the underside of the deck lid, as pictured.
