Vehicle Description
Attractive color combination on this very original, number's
matching Corvette! Hails from California with prior owner of 31
years! The last year for chrome bumpers and loaded with options to
include air conditioning, power brakes, power steering, removable
T-Tops, and more!
Chevrolet was coming out of short production year for 1971 and
found eager customers ready to make way for showrooms in 1972. It
would mark the final year of the desired chrome bumpers front and
rear, concealed wipers under a vacuum operated door, and the exit
of traditional SAE Gross horsepower, but now SAE Net ratings
determined after things like the air cleaner, transmission, and
rear axle loads are factored in. Horsepower was identical to 1971,
although printed output was significantly lower.
This third generation 1972 Chevrolet Corvette Stringray Coupe is
finished in factory 987- Ontario Orange over factory Black interior
and is an exceptional representation of what is quickly becoming
one of the most rapidly appreciating segments in the Corvette
collector car market. Featuring desirable options that include
number matching 350ci-4bbl V8 engine, TH400 automatic transmission,
power steering, power brakes, factory air conditioning,
tilt-telescopic steering wheel, power Soft-Ray Astro-ventilation
windows, original Deluxe wheel covers, raised white letter tires,
chrome luggage rack, dual outside mirrors, Corvette embroidered
carpeted floor mats & original rubber mats, 3.08 posi-traction rear
axle ratio, Delco AM/FM radio, and chrome valve covers & air
cleaner lid.

This November 1971 production Coupe is a well optioned and superbly
drivable car! Having limited ownership from new, this Corvette sold
new from California where it remained until March 1994! The owner
at that time from Agoura Hills, CA had purchased it in July 1990
and later moved to Maryland. It has always been annually maintained
and enjoyed regularly. The cooling system received a new radiator,
shroud, fan & clutch, hoses & clamps, and transmission cooler lines
in late 2004 by Tony's Corvette Shop in Gaithersburg, MD. And the
transmission was overhauled by Trans Tech in May 2008. It retained
a no-hit, factory body that was showcasing an older paint finish
and a tired vinyl interior, so a comprehensive frame-up restoration
was commenced in 2010 in professional fashion!
The exterior repaint would be handled by Top Gun Collision Repair
in Frederick, MD beginning with all glass and brightwork removed
for a proper strip and reseal of the fiberglass. The gorgeous,
code-correct Ontario Orange base coat/clear coat finish applied
possesses a perfect amount of metallic to glimmer under the sun!
All new date-coded Soft-Ray tinted window glass was provided by OEM
Glass Inc to ensure clear visibility. A new Deluxe interior kit
with leather seat upholstery was ordered through Al Knoch Interiors
along with interior carpet to be installed inside. All exterior
chrome, including the luggage rack, were replated by Librandi's
Plating from Middleton, PA. The car was reassembled with new
hardware, fresh weather stripping, interior switches, door sill
plates, exterior marker lenses, emblems, wheel center caps, and
much more! The cosmetic restoration was completed in August 2013
with results that remain quite stunning to this day!
Service of the mechanicals continued with fresh brake components in
2013, followed by a new gas tank, sending unit, new water pump,
rebuilt original carburetor, and new GM starter & alternator in
2014/2015. More recently, a high dollar teakwood steering wheel was
added 2017, while all suspension bushings, both front & rear, were
replaced in 2018 along with a 4-wheel alignment. This included a
new steering box, control valve, and idler arm. Under the hood a
new Frigidaire compressor and Pertronix ignition were installed
along with a fresh Interstate battery in 2021. All maintenance
records dating back to 1990 will be included with the sale along
with multiple sets of keys, owner's manual, T-top storage bags,
storage cover, and unused Delco front license plate bracket.
It is ready for the next owner to enjoy and show! It comes very
nicely detailed throughout and retains all original storage
compartment stickers, factory tire changing equipment including
spare tire, as well as its original factory-issue all number's
matching drivetrain. Sold mileage exempt as true mileage is
unknown. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions
about the car or to discuss worldwide shipping options.
